I. Introduction
Undoubtedly, calculus is one of the subjects that
students loathe for because of its complexity.
Although most of them do not see the value of this
subject, the invention calculus is one of the most
prominent contributions to modern mathematics. In
fact, its role has become more important than ever
as the use of mathematical models has reached beyond
areas such as physics and engineering and into such
different fields as biology, economics and business.
Calculus is used to create mathematical models in
order to arrive into an optimal solution. You can
use it to easily find the area of any shape, even a
irregular one. In physics, calculus is used in a lot
of its concepts like motion, electricity, heat,
light, harmonics, acoustics, astronomy, and
dynamics. In fact, even advanced physics concepts
including electromagnetism and Einstein's theory of
relativity use calculus. In the field of chemistry,
calculus can be used to predict functions such as
reaction rates and radioactive decay. Meanwhile, in
biology, it is utilized to formulate rates such as
birth and death rates. In economics, calculus is
used to compute marginal cost and marginal revenue,
enabling economists to predict maximum profit in a
specific setting. It helps economist to grow up
their business. Engineers and architects determine
the size and shape of the curves using calculus.
Without the use of calculus roads, bridges, tunnels
would not be safe as they are today
Its remarkable role cannot be denied for it is
proven not only by the beauty of the subject, but
also by the fact that it still retains its
fundamental significance, even several centuries
after its birth. The two people with an enormous
contribution to the discovery of the theorems of
calculus were Sir Isaac Newton of England and
Gottfried Wilhelm Leibniz of Germany. This research
paper focuses on unveiling the background sketch of
Sir Isaac Newton and his contribution to calculus.
