Dracula Begins with a Bite and Ends with a FANGtastic Night

One of the most popular fall productions in Columbia
COLUMBIA, S.C. (Oct. 7, 2015) – Audiences are encouraged to stock up on garlic and
sharpened stakes for the return of Columbia City Ballet’s Halloween favorite, Dracula: Ballet
with a Bite, celebrating its 20th performing year this October 27 through 29.

Based on award winning Bram Stoker’s classic horror story, of the nocturnal who survive on the
blood of the living, audiences will be mesmerized as they venture into the dark and eerie world
choreographed by William Starrett. This evocative work is full of in-house risqué costumes,
haunting scenery and gory effects with blood and flying bats, to name a few. Since its premiere
in 1991, Dracula has resonated with audiences across the country, or as Charleston City Paper
describes it, “Sizzling with the theatrical intensity of… a sexy, fun, ballet gone wild.”

Columbia City Ballet presents Dracula: Ballet with a Bite at the Koger Center for the Arts,
running October 27 at 7:00 pm, October 28 at 7:00 pm and October 29 at 8:30 pm. Tickets can
be purchased at www.kogercenterforthearts.com, at the box office or by calling 803-251-2222.
University students are encouraged to take advantage of special discount student pricing on
Thursday, October 29 when all tickets are $11 with a valid student ID.

Columbia City Ballet will also be hosting its first Gala With a Bite on Friday, October 28, at
8:30 p.m. at the Darla Moore School of Business. The evening will be filled with live music,
heavy hors d'oeuvres and a silent auction to end the night. Proceeds from the Gala will go to the
annual fund and help preserve the costumes and set of the production Dracula: Ballet with a Bite.
