PROJECT NAME:-

INTRODUCTION:-
We think to solve any problem of the world what just required the willingness
and a small initiation.
This document presents an overview of the proposed system .Considering the theme
of IMAGINE CUP-2010, which also meets the basic requirement to achieve one of
the major goal of (MILLIONIUM DEVELOPMENT GOAL) that is ( Ensure
environmental sustainability).The major problem which we think that harm the
environment is the lack of Reusability of the product .Prior to buying a TV ,music
player ,or wireless phone nobody think about where these items will go after they
have no longer use.

According to recent report about 3 million tons of commercial and electronic waste
are produced every year ,which leads to soil and water contamination ,health
problems (like cancer) ,ozone layer depletion .

Our proposed system provides effective medium through which these sort of waste
products can be effectively reuse and recycled. The system facilitates
communication between the person who is willing to throw his /her wastes, which
may be functional or non-functional and the person/company who is willing to buy
these sort of waste products. Our proposed system/solution consists of a website
and a sms-based mechanism providing a medium for effective management of
waste. Our system consist of a section for Instant donation which helps to donate
clothes and books etc. to lower section of society through Indulge NGO’s. Our
system is built using latest Microsoft technologies such as MS .NET Framework3.5
and MS silverlight 3.0.

Problem definition:-
In order address goal (Ensure environmental sustainability) in Millennium
Development Goals we have analysed waste management problem in every country.
In fact, the trend of urbanisation in developing countries has been soared rapidly
now a days. This urbanisation and regular enhancement of living standards are
producing tons of waste every year. Different wastes cause adverse effect on the
environment which will ultimately render this planet unfit for life. Due to lack of proper
waste management system this problem has become more severe.

Due to lack of time and an effective medium of disposal, people eventually throw
their wastes. This unmanaged waste causes environmental pollution. As an example
many times people throw their old lead batteries or sell them to unauthorised dealers
who doesn’t properly take step to dispose it. This leads to hazardous effect on
environment by emission of some toxic elements like lead, arsenic, cadmium ,
antimony, mercury.
Their toxic fumes causes diseases like cancer, inhalation problem etc.

Some time people throw their old products since they did not find a mediator who
might help them to sell their product at some price. There are many organisation who
spent lot of money for collection of wastes as well as for the advertisements about
their mechanism of their management. Since there is no such effective medium that
provide the direct communication b/w the person who is willing to throw the product
and the organisation who is going to deal with the waste effectively.

Sometimes many people want to donate their used clothes and book to the poor
section of society but do not find an effective medium through which they can donate
it and in last due to lack of medium they through that good. Many NGO who work for
a poor section of society but they does not find the place from where they can collect
the old goods.

Not only that there is no proper disposal of organic waste which are generated form
kitchen, vegetable farms and food storage area, which can be effectively consumed
in the poultry farm and many other such type of farm.

Our solution:-
Taking the consideration of all sort of lack of medium for communication between
different people involve in waste-management , we have made a website and a short
message service(SMS) ,which we think can easily provide a answer to our problem
.In recent year the number of user of internet has increased tremendous all over the
globe. In fact in many of the metro cities of developed and developing countries,
which also play a major role in production of lot of waste , the no. of user of internet
and mobile phone are large.

Basically in our proposed solution we have made a website using latest

technology .NET and Silverlight , which provide easy and effective medium of
communication between people who produce the waste and company who involve in
buying/collecting the waste good. This will help to proper disposal of waste product
since the organisation involve will take proper action of Disposal which help in
protecting the environment from the many of toxic fumes.

We have also consider the case in which people thinks to sell their old functional
good ,so we have incorporated a bidding system in our website which provide easy
and broader market to different person and organisation who are interested in buying
the old product , which satisfy the one main aim of our system “REUSEIBILTY OF
OLD PRODUCT”.

We have seen that many a time instead of throwing old good people want to give to
someone ,but due to lack of communication they are not able to do so, by taking this
point in consideration we have also included a section in website which will help
interested people to give their old books, clothes, food and many other thing to poor.

FEATURES:-
 The main and major features of our proposed system is that it provide a
effective medium of communication between people and organisation which
will effectively dispose the waste, which will help in keeping the environment
clean.
 Second major feature of our proposed system is that it provide a broader
market of functional old product to the seller and buyer, which will help in
reusing of old product.
 Third major feature of our proposed system is that it provide a instant mean to
people who are willing to give their old goods like clothes, book to poor
section of the society, through a short message service (SMS) our system will
inform the NGO working for upliftment of poor section of society about the
address and a map on their smart device or window phone of the people who
are willing to give the goods. With that, this section inform the nearest poultry
farm and dairy farm about the area from where they can collect the organic
waste.
 The fourth major feature of our proposed system is that it will automatically
generate a certificate for those people who have effectively use this website
for preserving the environment. With that it enable that user to write a article
on any topic that will be published on the website, that will excite the different
user to use this website.
  The fifth feature of our system is that it contain some very effective collection
of videos with the help of which people can reuse some waste like paper and
many other thing.

POTENTIAL USER:-
 Any person who cares for environment is potential user for our proposed
system.
 People who want to sell the old product and the people who want to buy an
old product are also major user for the system. The Government and Non-
Government organisation who work for poor section of society can also
effectively utilise our system to find a person who are willing to denote
something.
 The different organisation who are interested in collecting/buying the waste
are also the potential user, since our system provide a medium of negotiation
between user and organisation.
 People who are willing to give their old goods like book and clothes as well as
food can also use our system.

SYSTEM ARCHITECTURE:-
REQUIRED ELEMENT:-

Our whole web application is built using the “MICROSOFT VISUAL STUDIO 2008
PROFESSIONAL EDITION” and “SQL SERVER 2008 EXPRESS EDITION”.

SILVERLIGHT:-

We have also used silverlight in order to provide more interactive way of

communication and make the website more users friendly. Silverlight brings
opportunities to users taking its advantage that have never been used in previous
web application. One of the advantages of using a silverlight is that it provides fast
access of video. We have used WCF web service because it provide a few option for
silverlight to access the database.

SMS SERVICE TOOLKIT:-

We are using Microsoft SMS server toolkit for generation of message which can be
access with the help of Window Mobile 5.0. We are using recommended toolkit
provided on IMAGINE CUP website. With that we are using the Microsoft virtual
earth for providing map to the user and organisation.
