Topic How to Configure a Machine in QW for CL Tracking
Equipment Pride Rock QW PC

Intent for this is to define a Procedure to configure a machine in Quality Window for CL Tracking.
Step 1: Open Google Chrome/Internet Explorer and Enter Below Link and Login with your Credentials.
https://uac.pg.com/apac

Step 2: Now open RS Links Classic from Start Menu.

Step 3: Go to "Communication>Configure Drive" from RS Links Main Screen to configure Driver.

Step 4: Now Select the Ethernet Devices from Drop Down list you want to Communicate with and click on Add
New.

Step 5: Give a Name to your Driver Like "Utilities", spaces are not Allowed in Driver Name.

Step 6: Enter the IP of the Device* you want to communicate with.

Utilities DAS IP: 143.38.72.51 & 143.38.72.51**

*Make Sure the Device u want to

communicate is on the Network Topology you
configured the Driver in RS Links.
E.g. we have configured Ethernet Devices

**Incase device is unrecognized i.e. has a

YELLOW QUESTION MARK. Right click on it
and Upload EDS File for that IP.
Step7: Now these IPs are configured

Step 8: Now go to "DDE/OPC>Topic Configuration…." from RS Links.

Step 9: Click on New and Create a New Topic and Name it according to your Machines* and hit Enter.
In the case of the Utilities DAS PC Name it:
Utilities_DAS (No other name will work unless QW tag names are changed)

*Remember these topics will

be like empty folders because
we didn't assigned any
controller to a topic

*Topic is a controller
directory containing all Tags
and their real time values
available in the controller.

Step 10: Now assign each Topic a controller with respect to its Name

In our case click on Utilities_DAS then from the right pane go to

143.38.52,1756-EN2T, 1756-EN2T/D  Backplane, 1756-A17/A  00, 1756-L72 LOGIX5572,PnG_DAS
And click Done
Step 11: Now Open "QW Admin" from Start Menu.

Step 12: From Main Page go to where the Centerline QW File is stored on the PC and Open it. The File is
named AutoCLs.
This should be stored in the PQUtilities Shared Folder in a folder named AutoCL_Utilities
Now to Configure Utility Equipment in CL Quality Window
Step 13: Open the AutoCLs and go to Variable view

Most centerlines are included

here. But they need to be
assigned a path from rslinx to
pick up data
Step 14: To add a new CL right click where you wish to add it and click insert variable and give it a proper
name

Step 15: Now start adding the file sources in the Input File section (Example given later)
The following have already been configured in the AutoCLs File in the Input File
DDE Link To QW CL Recorded
DDE:RSLinx|Utilities_DAS!Float_Value[0],L1,C1 Compressor Outlet Pressure
DDE:RSLinx|Utilities_DAS!Float_Value[1],L1,C1 DP Oil Seperator Pressure
DDE:RSLinx|Utilities_DAS!Float_Value[2],L1,C1 DP Air Filter Pressure
DDE:RSLinx|Utilities_DAS!Float_Value[3],L1,C1 Oil Injection Element Pressure
DDE:RSLinx|Utilities_DAS!Float_Value[4],L1,C1 Compressor Outlet Temperature
DDE:RSLinx|Utilities_DAS!Float_Value[5],L1,C1 Element 1 Outlet Temperature
DDE:RSLinx|Utilities_DAS!Float_Value[6],L1,C1 Element 2 Outlet Temperature
DDE:RSLinx|Utilities_DAS!Float_Value[7],L1,C1 Cooling Medium Temperature
DDE:RSLinx|Utilities_DAS!Float_Value[8],L1,C1 Oil Seperator Temperature
DDE:RSLinx|Utilities_DAS!Float_Value[9],L1,C1 Dry PDP Temperature
DDE:RSLinx|Utilities_DAS!TT_FeedWater.Input.Scaled,L1,C1 Feed Water Temperature
DDE:RSLinx|Utilities_DAS!PT_BoilerGas.Input.Scaled,L1,C1 Gas Pressure
DDE:RSLinx|Utilities_DAS!TT_StackTemp.Input.Scaled,L1,C1 Stack Temperature
DDE:RSLinx|Utilities_DAS!FT_SteamRate.Input.Scaled,L1,C1 Steam Flow Rate
DDE:RSLinx|Utilities_DAS!LT_BoilerWater.Input.Scaled,L1,C1 Boiler Water Level
DDE:RSLinx|Utilities_DAS!LT_InFlow.Input.Scaled,L1,C1 Inflow Tank
DDE:RSLinx|Utilities_DAS!LT_UGWT1.Input.Scaled,L1,C1 Tank 1 Level
DDE:RSLinx|Utilities_DAS!LT_UGWT2.Input.Scaled,L1,C1 Tank 2 Level

Step 16: These tags can be found from Edit  Copy DDE/OPC and check selecting the scaled value of the
tag and copying. The copied text is in the following format:
[Utilities_DAS]PT_BoilerGas.Input.Scaled,L1,C1
You need to change this to DDE:RSLinx|Utilities_DAS!PT_BoilerGas.Input.Scaled,L1,C1 and paste it into
the Input file area of the new CL you created as shown earlier.

These tags can be found by clicking on the values of the reading in the
DAS PC FactoryTalk View Site Client. You can then search this in the
copy DDE/OPC in rslinx
Example finding a tag.
Say you want to find F&HC Boiler Feed water temperature. Go to the DAS PC and click on the Feed water
reading as shown below:

A window will pop up which will show the tag. In this case the tag is TT_FeedWater\

We can find this tag in Edit  Copy DDE/OPC Link and then search for the tag in the topic you created

We have to search for TT_Feedwater

Select the scaled value and click ok. Now special paste the link into excel which will be shown as
=RSLINX|Utilities_DAS!'TT_FeedWater.Input.Scaled,L1,C1'
To configure this into QW change it to
DDE:RSLINX|Utilities_DAS!TT_FeedWater.Input.Scaled,L1,C1
NOTE: Remove single quotes around 'TT_FeedWater.Input.Scaled,L1,C1'
And add this link to the input source in the QW Admin as shown earlier.
Step 17: Click on Utilities_CL_Compliance and in calculation make sure 100-@OSPEC%[V4..V21] is V4 to
V{whatever number is the final centerline}

In our case this is 21 but this may change if new CLs are added

Step 18: Add all the LSL and USL parameters

Step 19: Save the File
Make Sure Quality Window File Pack and QW Schedule is Closed while Saving.

Step 20: Run QW File Pack from Star Menu

Step 21: Navigate to where the AutoCLs file is stored and buildpackage. Save it in a shared folder where
you can navigate later
Step 22: Now Run QW Schedule from Start Menu Make Sure RS Links is running and you are connected
to MCS.

Step 22: Add scheduled task

Step 23: Fill the following

a. Scheduled Task Name: Choose a name for your task eg AutoCenterlines Utilities
b. Run: Browse and go to C:\Program Files (x86)\Busitech\QW50 and select QWAdd

c. Parameters: Browse and go to where the AutoCLs file is stored

d. In Run Schedule select the interval you want the QW to collect data

Step 24: Click ok. This will add a new task. Check the task (tick mark) and right click and click on force
task to run
Step 25: Now open the AutoCLs Buildpackage file and Enjoy:

Refresh the file once a while to see updated readings.

To Export QW to Excel
Open Channel Viewer

Search qwxl and install it. You need to get access from IT for the installation

Once installed search for qwxl3

Now open excel and click on addin

Search for you QW file and Open

Viola!
