Comparatives

An adjective is a describing word.


When we compare two nouns we use a comparative
adjective.

An example of this is the use of the endings: -er -est.


If you look at these sentences, we are using comparative
adjectives to describe size.
A pony is small.
A cat is smaller.
A mouse is smallest.

Task One
Copy and complete this chart. Be careful with 12 and 13.

Extension
Choose 8 of the adjectives and write 3 sentences for each
showing the comparisons. (Like the example at the top of the
sheet with the pony, cat and mouse. Try and make your
sentences more exciting than mine!)
