IC Biasing: Current sources, current mirrors and current steering circuits.
Analysis of Different amplifier: The MOS differential pair, small signal operation of the MOS differential pair.

Feedback and oscillator circuit.
The general feedback structure, some properties of -ve feedback. The four basic feedback topologies, Analysis
of series-shunt feedback amplifier. Basic principles of sinusoidal oscillators, OPAMP RC Oscillator circuits,
Weinbridge oscillator, crystal oscillators.
Power amplifier: Definition of class A, class B, class C, conversion efficiency of A & B, Distortion analysis,
push-pull amplifier, cross over distortion, complementary-symmetry push pull (class AB) amp. (Millman Halkias)

OPAMP : DC offset parameter, frequency parameter, gain-BW curve, Active filters (1st order and 2nd order
Lowpass, high pass and BPF), Schmitt trigger circuit.
Multi vibrator circuit: Bistable multi vibrator, Generation of square and triangular ware forms using astable
multivibrator, Generation of a standardized pulse- of the monostable multi vibrator.

Transients: Study of RL, RC and RLC networks by Laplace transform method with DC and AC excitation.
Response to step, impulse and ramp inputs in s-domain.
Module-II (12 hrs)
Two port networks: Z, Y, h & ABCD parameters. T & Pi networks, Series, Parallel and Cascade connection of
two port networks. Reciprocity and symmetry condition in two port networks, Image and iterative impedances.
Network Functions & Response: Concept of complex frequency, driving point and transfer functions for one port

series and shunt motors by flux control, armature control and voltage controlled methods and applications.
Losses and Efficiency of D.C. Machines, Swinburn's test, brake test. DC motor 3-point starters.

Transformer
Single Phase - Construction and principle of operation, E.M.F. equations; phasor diagram; actual and approximate
equivalent circuits; open and short circuit tests, voltage regulations; losses and efficiency. all day efficiency,
polarity test, back to back test, p.u representation, parallel operation and load sharing.
Module-IV (12 hrs)
Autotransformers- Comparison with two-winding transformer, two-winding transformer connected as
Autotransformer.
Three phase transformer- Connection of three single - phase transformers as Y-Y, Y- Δ, Δ-Y,, Δ-Δ, V-V,,
configurations; Construction of core type and shell type transformer. , phasor groups, phase conversions(3
phase to 6 phase & 12 phase), T-connection of two single phase transformers, parallel operation of three phase
transformers, three winding transformer and its equivalent circuit.

Probability : Probability: Classical and axiomatic definitions of probability, addition and multiplication rules of
probability, conditional probability. Baye's theorem and independence.
Random variables, discrete and continuous distributions, mean and variance of a distribution. Binomial, Poisson
and Normal distributions, Distribution of several random variables.

Gate Level Minimization
The Map Method, K Maps (up to 5 variables) SOP and POS and its simplification, Don't care conditions, NAND
and NOR implementation. AND-OR invert, OR-AND invert implementation of function, XOR function, Parity
generation and checking, Hardware Description Language (HDL).

Combinational Logic
Combination Circuits, Analysis and Design procedure; Binary Adder-Subtractor, decimal Adder, Binary Multiplier,
magnitude Comparator, Decoders, Encoders, Multiplexers, HDL for Combinational Circuits. Design of any types
