Uttarakhand is a state in northern India crossed by the
Himayalas and is known for its Hindu pilgrimage sites.
Rishikesh a major centre for yoga study, was made
famous by the Beatles’ 1968 visit. The city hosts the
evening Ganga Aarti, a spiritual gathering on the sacred
Ganges River. The state's forested Jim Corbett National
Park shelters Bengal tigers and other native wildlife.
Uttarakhand is one of the most beautiful states in India.
However, the scenic beauty is just an attractive facade to
the intriguing mythological past of the region. It is a land
where mythological tales come alive. Uttarakhand was
the ancient Puranic term for the central stretch of the
Indian Himalayas. Its peaks and valleys were well-known
in ancient times as the abode of gods and goddesses and
source of the Ganges River. Today, it is often called 'the
Land of the Gods' because of the presence of a multitude
of Hindu pilgrimage spots. Uttarakhand is the only state
in India to have Sanskrit as its second official language
after Hindi. The capital of Uttarakhand is Dehradun.
Uttarakhand has many tourist spots due to its location in
the Himayalas. There are many ancient temples, forest
reserves, national parks, hill stations, and mountain
peaks that draw large amounts of tourists and there are
44 protected monuments in the state. Two of the most
holy rivers in Hinduism the Ganges and the Yamuna,
originate in Uttarakhand. The state has 12 National Parks
and Wildlife Sanctuaries which cover 13.8 percent of the
total surface area. The oldest national park on the Indian
subcontinent, Jim Corbett National Park is a major tourist
attraction. The state has always been a destination for
mountaineering, hiking and rock climbing in India. A
recent development in adventure tourism in the region
has been whitewater rafting in Rishikesh. Due to its
proximity to the Himayala ranges, the place is full of hills
and mountains and is suitable for trekking, climing,
skiing, camping, rock climbing, and paragliding. Like most
of India, agriculture is one of the most significant sectors
of the economy of Uttarakhand. Basmati rice, wheat,
soybeans, groundnuts, coarse cereals, pulses, and oil
seeds are the most widely grown crops. Fruits like apples,
oranges, pears, peaches, litchis, and plums are widely
grown. Uttarakhand has 28,508 km of roads, of which
1,328 km are national highways and 1,543 km are state
highways. That will be all for my presentation thank you.
