IN A CLASSROOM - DAY
TEACHER
Ah, yes, Isla. How can I help you?
ISLA
I was wondering why I got a C on my
essay. It had a flow and it was
organized.
TEACHER
(says this matter-of-factly)
It had no beginning, no thesis, and no
conclusion. It was just a jumble of
sentences disguised as an essay.
ISLA
(sighs)
Okay. Uh, thanks.
(Mumbling as she leaves)
Why can't I do anything right?
Isla walks through the hallway and exits out a door. The
camera zooms in on a poster taped to the wall. It reads: Emma
Smith died at age 87 due to Incognito Contusion. She is known
for creating the bomb that began World War IV, a war that has
killed 300 million people.
Isla walks to her house, imitating the people who don't think
that she is important.

VOICE (O.S.):
So many lives could've been spared if
Emma Smith wasn't around. So many more
innocent people would be alive right
now. Go to 2018. You have 1 day; use
your time wisely. You know what to do.
KILL HER!
Isla walks into the lab, looking for the energy sucking
device.
ISLA
Whoa.
ISLA (CONT'D)
The energy-sucking device! It's
amazing!
ISLA
I never thought that I'd time travel
in Montreaux's elevator. Especially
not for...something like this.
(sighs and takes a breath and )

ISLA
That test seems hard.
EMMA
It probably will be! Are you new? I've
never seen you around.
ISLA
I just moved here. The end of the
school year is a weird time to come
here, though. (starts to pull out
energy-sucking device out of her bag.)
I'm Isla.
EMMA
Emma.
(They shake hands)
ISLA
I don't mean to be a burden, but do
you know where the computer lab is?
EMMA
(laughs)
Yeah, I'll show you around. You can
tag along with me.
ISLA
Cool, thanks. Nice to meet you, Emma.

Emma leaves.
ISLA (CONT'D)
I should have taken the chance...
They hang out and become friends. Clips of their day. They go
shopping. They study for the test, even though Isla won't
actually take it. She was planning to kill Emma that night.
ISLA
Emma, I, uh, hate to ask this of you,
but I forgot where the library is. Can
you show it to me again?
EMMA
Yeah, sure! (they walk to library.)
EMMA
What's up?
ISLA
I'm uh. writing a story. A girl from
the future comes to the present in
order to kill a present girl.
EMMA
Whoa, that's harsh! Good thing this
doesn't happen in today's world, am I
right?
ISLAYeah!
(under breath)
Mostly.Anyways, this time traveler
needs to kill this girl because the
girl could start a war and kill a lot

of people like, say, 3 million.
(Emma's eyes bug out)
Then, the traveler befriends the girl.
Should the traveler kill the girl?
EMMA (CONT'D)
I don't think so. Maybe they could, I
don't know, redirect them or
something. To make better decisions.
ISLA
Yeah.
(smiles)
Yeah, that's great!
EMMA
Oh, I had a great idea for a science
experiment! There's a chance it could
blow up, but-
ISLA
Have you ever considered having a
career in medicine? I think it really
suits you.
EMMA
Thanks. I'll try it out. You know I'm
really glad we're friends. If that's
what you think.
ISLA
Of course.
Isla heads back to 2092 and she sees the poster but it says
that Emma Smith dies but was known for discovering the cure
to Incognito Contusion.
EMMA
(To office assistant)
When did Isla Harlow leave the school?
OFFICE ASSISTANT
I'm sorry. I checked the records and
isla harlow was never a student here,

or anywhere else.
EMMA
That's crazy! I just met her today!
OFFICE ASSISTANT
(types on computer)
I tried looking her up. Her family,
her friends. Nothing. It seems to me
that Isla Harlow - simply does not
exist.
