INT.

IN A CLASSROOM - DAY

It is the year 2092. Isla Harlow is in a classroom and school

is over. She is holding a test that has a C on it. She walks
up to her teacher who is at their desk. Her teacher doesn't
notice Isla immediately. Isla clears her throat. The teacher
looks up.

TEACHER
Ah, yes, Isla. How can I help you?

ISLA
I was wondering why I got a C on my
essay. It had a flow and it was
organized.

TEACHER
(says this matter-of-factly)
It had no beginning, no thesis, and no
conclusion. It was just a jumble of
sentences disguised as an essay.

ISLA
(sighs)
Okay. Uh, thanks.
(Mumbling as she leaves)
Why can't I do anything right?

1 INT. IN THE HALLWAY - DAY 1

Isla walks through the hallway and exits out a door. The
camera zooms in on a poster taped to the wall. It reads: Emma
Smith died at age 87 due to Incognito Contusion. She is known
for creating the bomb that began World War IV, a war that has
killed 300 million people.

2 EXT. WALKING OUTSIDE TO HER HOUSE - DAY 2

Isla walks to her house, imitating the people who don't think
that she is important.

You're not good enough, Isla. Study

harder, Isla. You can't do anything
right, Isla.
(sighs)
3 INT. IN HER LIVING ROOM (THE HILLEL) - NIGHT 3

Isla is asleep and having a dream. In the dream… camera zooms

in on poster in hallway. Isla looks at it.

VOICE (O.S.):
So many lives could've been spared if
Emma Smith wasn't around. So many more
innocent people would be alive right
now. Go to 2018. You have 1 day; use
your time wisely. You know what to do.
KILL HER!

Isla gasps and sits up. She is now awake.

4 INT. IN A LAB - NIGHT 4

Isla walks into the lab, looking for the energy sucking
device.

ISLA
Whoa.

She is holding a gadget in her hand, stroking it in awe.

ISLA (CONT'D)
The energy-sucking device! It's
amazing!

She puts it in her purse/bag. She exits the room.

5 INT. IN A HALLWAY NEAR AN ELEVATOR - NIGHT 5

Isla is walking to an elevator. The elevator is what people

use in order to time travel in the future. She stops outside
of it.

ISLA
I never thought that I'd time travel
in Montreaux's elevator. Especially
not for...something like this.
(sighs and takes a breath and )

6 INT. IN AN ELEVATOR/TIME MACHINE - NIGHT 6

Isla punches in the number: 2018 into her phone/calculator.

She holds onto the elevator's handle inside of the elevator.
She shakes and almost falls because she is time traveling.

After the time traveling is complete, Isla walks out of the

elevator. She is in a new school. It is Emma Smith's school.
It is the year 2018.

7 INT. A CLASSROOM - DAY 7

Isla recognizes Emma from her picture. Isla looks at the

board and saw that there was an upcoming test.

ISLA
That test seems hard.

EMMA
It probably will be! Are you new? I've
never seen you around.

ISLA
I just moved here. The end of the
school year is a weird time to come
here, though. (starts to pull out
energy-sucking device out of her bag.)
I'm Isla.

EMMA
Emma.
(They shake hands)

ISLA
I don't mean to be a burden, but do
you know where the computer lab is?

EMMA
(laughs)
Yeah, I'll show you around. You can
tag along with me.

ISLA
Cool, thanks. Nice to meet you, Emma.
(slips device back into her bag)

I should have taken the chance...

8 INT. FOOD COURT - DAY 8

They hang out and become friends. Clips of their day. They go
shopping. They study for the test, even though Isla won't
actually take it. She was planning to kill Emma that night.

ISLA
Emma, I, uh, hate to ask this of you,
but I forgot where the library is. Can
you show it to me again?

EMMA
Yeah, sure! (they walk to library.)

9 INT. LIBRARY TABLES - EVENING 9

Isla and Emma are sitting at the tables studying.

Isla begins to take energy-sucking device out of purse, but

puts it back and sighs.

EMMA
What's up?

ISLA
I'm uh. writing a story. A girl from
the future comes to the present in
order to kill a present girl.

EMMA
Whoa, that's harsh! Good thing this
doesn't happen in today's world, am I
right?

ISLAYeah!
(under breath)
Mostly.Anyways, this time traveler
needs to kill this girl because the
girl could start a war and kill a lot

of people like, say, 3 million.
(Emma's eyes bug out)
Then, the traveler befriends the girl.
Should the traveler kill the girl?

EMMA (CONT'D)
I don't think so. Maybe they could, I
don't know, redirect them or
something. To make better decisions.

ISLA
Yeah.
(smiles)
Yeah, that's great!

EMMA
Oh, I had a great idea for a science
experiment! There's a chance it could
blow up, but-

ISLA
Have you ever considered having a
career in medicine? I think it really
suits you.

EMMA
Thanks. I'll try it out. You know I'm
really glad we're friends. If that's
what you think.

ISLA
Of course.

10 INT. ELEVATOR - NIGHT 10

Isla heads back to 2092 and she sees the poster but it says
that Emma Smith dies but was known for discovering the cure

EMMA
That's crazy! I just met her today!

OFFICE ASSISTANT
(types on computer)
I tried looking her up. Her family,
her friends. Nothing. It seems to me
that Isla Harlow - simply does not
exist.
