Universal Design for Learning (UDL)

In order to follow the UDL guidelines, students can include a transcript of their video. This lesson will benefit
all students because the audio from the video will help visually impaired students. Also, the student’s
transcript will support students who are hearing impaired.
Lesson idea implementation:
First, the teacher will play the already prepared video about Martin Luther King Jr. to introduce the subject to
the students. Before playing the video, the teacher will explain to the students to remember and write down
important details from the video about Martin Luther King Jr. After watching the video, the students will be
split up into groups, and be assigned to research more information over the topic.

Once the students have enough information about Martin Luther King Jr., they will be asked to create their
own video within their groups. The students will have classroom time for a week to work as a group, and
create this video. After completing the video, the students will present their video to the class, and also write
a transcript of the video that will be displayed during their presentation.

Importance of technology:
By having the students use technology can increase the LoTi level of the lesson. As well as, giving the students
an opportunity to create a video of their own, and gaining knowledge in how to create a video.

lesson, the students will not be sharing the video with anyone outside of the classroom, or publishing on a
public website. This activity will all be completed during school time, and only on the teacher approved
devices.

Reflective Practice:
With this lesson, students will understand and know how to create a video of their own on tools like iMovie.
Students will understand how to edit, save, and share a video they created while staying engaged on the
subject. Students will also understand how to work with others while using technology, and how to share it
with their peers.
