Psychology was once a part of philosophy, but separated from it due to its reliance on biology
and physical sciences. Education on the other hand, is the applied aspect of psychological
theory, and outpaces the theory in applications. There should be a Closer union between the
three disciplines. Two special problems in the psychological domain have direct bearing on its
allied disciplines. Psychology can help to answer the problem of realism in philosophy and can
provide law of learning in education.

We are heirs to a rich philosophical heritage. Passed on to us are a number of
philosophies of various thinkers who lived before us. These thinkers reflected on life in
this planet.
As a teacher, the most beneficial is Progressivism it is contend that although
knowledge may come from varied sources, the best way to learn is by actively
exploring/ or by engaging in direct experiences. They believe that the school should be
a laboratory for experimentation. They organize schools around the concerns, curiosity
and real world experiences of the learners. They advocate using project method and
problem solving which promotes democratic learning communities in the classroom.

3. What is your best strongly help philosophical belief? How can you use this strength of belief
to contribute to your school/’s reform movement?

4. Explain, how education affects the society and vice-versa. Cite example/s to justify your
answer.
The society plays an important role in education and influences it, both positively
and negatively. Social inequalities and unhealthy educational practices are some of the
negative influence of society on our lives. Customs and traditions that prevent certain
sections of society from exercising their fundamental rights shatter basic ideas of
education and social awareness. Some social groups deny women’s right to education,
some force to children to work, depriving them of educational opportunities, and some
fail to provide individuals with an environment conducive to their overall environment.
Education is one of the basic human rights. If social norms deprive certain strata of
society from progressing in life and come in the way of social welfare, it defeats the
purpose of education
