ADVERTISING ASSIGNMENT

Your assignment is to prepare an advertising campaign for a product of your choosing.


Working in your assigned groups, select a product that you feel you can advertise
effectively given the media form you have chosen. Determine your target audience and
develop two ads as part of a campaign. One of the ads must be for print media
(magazine, billboard, newspaper), the other must be for another form (Internet, television
or radio). You will also need to submit a written report and prepare an oral presentation
to be given in class.

The print ad should be in colour, unless you are targetting newspapers. It should be
clearly drawn with thought given to style of script and layout.

The other ad must be created in that form of media. Radio ads should be done on audio
tape, tv ads on video and internet ads on appropriate software (or on bristol board if you
are experiencing technical difficulties).

The written report must contain the following information:


Product
Target audience
Message you are trying to convey with your ads
How your ads will attract your target audience
What makes your product unique
Where you plan to show your ads (what magazine, tv program, etc.) and why

The oral presentation will be given twice; once in class as rehearsal for the next
presentation to a panel of experts. The focus of your oral presentation is to convince the
panel to hire you to advertise their product. Imagine they are the company that makes
your product. You are the advertising company looking to get their business. Convince
them that you have a unique and effective ad campaign that will improve their sales.
