Fuji Apples
The Fuji Apple was developed
by growers at the Tohoku Re-
search Station in Fujisaki, Ao-
mori, Japan in the late 1930s.
The Fuji Apple was brought to
market in 1962.
It originated as a cross between
two American apple varieties,
the Red Delicious and old Vir-
ginia Ralls Genet Apple.
Fuji Apples are typically large or
very large and round, on average
size of a baseball.
Description
The Fuji Apple is surely one of the more attractive
modern apple varieties. Its main characteristic is
the lovely pink speckled flush over a yellow—green
background. It is also crisp and
juicy, with dull white flesh which snaps
cleanly. The flavor is predominantly sweet,
very refreshing (especially
if slightly chilled), but not particularly outstanding.
The Fuji Apple is my favorite apple
because its juicy , crispy, and sweet.
A great way to use fuji apples in a
dish is as a dessert. A great dessert
