PLAYGROUND COMMUNITY
Every person has his private space with service block - bathroom and small
kitchen. Persons builds their house, its a participatory design, where we propose
a participatory build process. As a community has no private property, it has
its equipment - cranes (lifting height 22m used for our height limit), and other
needed tools not only to render independence but also provide contemporary hight
quality services. Ground floor contains thematic workshops which are divided in
wood, metal, ceramics - glass, tissues sectors, which together interrelates with
high tech services to create experimental environment. There are also shops
available in a outer perimeter of ground floor, which are also axes ways to the
workshops, where further one can proceed to collaborate for realizing ideas.
From outside one comes through the gate, which is also orienting towards a
beautifully panorama. There is a public space - permeable, ground simple to
remain flexible enough to become pregnant and abort the thematic installations.
Access to the community dwellings is controlled via vertical zoning - dwellings
are erected above the workshops, which in themselves provides a ground floor for
the residential part - also accessed via ramps, which allows the accessibility
for bikes, carts, wide enough to allow circulation, kids play. Another access
is via community’s center, which is from outside is also accessible to the
public. In this place there are sheared community’s services, kindergarten,
covered meeting place, equipped with multimedia equipment, and a gallery, with
controlled access to public.

Each of 4 sectors of workshops wrap an internal space which is subordinated

towards the ‘‘hill’’ which has human accessible external surface and interior
space containing community’s services.
Building height is limited to the 5 constructed floors - 5 m height for
workshops, and 3 m for each residential floor. Residential area getting to the
higher stores becomes less dense, has more open voids - (which are subordinated
to sun-path), and envisioned for single persons, and going down gradient towards
elder ones and families on the lowest ones.
Alcoves as it would be on the town street, formed with set back of the dwelling
units, where one is allowed to enjoy its time with his companion, together with
empty voids forms compositional alterations which enhances the possibility to
identify the place.

28
Structure is composed of precast concrete columns and primary beams. Other
other spanning and skin elements are produced by community. Such structural
arrangement which allows flexibility in transforming dwelling units is hoped to
pay back the curving alignment. We use round beams as they seem to be the most
resistant on their ‘‘corners’’ for eventual trans-locations - which can take
place as a family expands. There is envisioned possibility to expand - contract
horizontally and vertically. Such arrangement provides also 2 wall natural
illumination, allowing natural ventilation, and providing 2 different characters
of views - towards social part and towards rural - where recreational, mental
concentration activities can take place.

Workshop - Amphitheater has several premises to exist:

- Public workshops, where gathered materials are creatively reprocessed.
- As a place for gathering - sorting materials, has its respective distance
from communities dwellings, as to avoid sound pollution due to work.
- As counter activity in confronts to a cinema, situation based experimental
public theater, having a appropriate constructional tools which can be utilize
to transform the area in to the high tech multimedia space. Concerts, theme
festivals can take place here and around.
- Its recession in to the ground - where as to minimize visual impact due to
possible works is also ironic counter-form for the cinema and his parking lot
(which seems to “provide good place” to park the mobiles).
