A DETAILED LESSON PLAN FOR Quartile OF Ungrouped Data

I. OBJECTIVES

At the end of the Lesson, the student should be able to:

Knowledge : illustrate the quartile for ungrouped data

Skill : calculate the first quartile, second quartile and third quartile of a set of data

Attitude : appreciate the values of patience and perseverance in developing the skill

2. Motivation

The teacher will introduce an activity by showing a four related pictures to the
class. The student will guess the correct word that describes the pictures. This
activity is called "four pics one word".
B. Analysis

The teacher will ask the following question to the class:

1. How do you define measure? How about position?


2. What is quartile?

C. Abstraction

The teacher will show a picture that represents the distribution of quartile for
ungroup data and ask the following question:
1. What percent of the distribution is below the first quartile?
2. Justify why the middle quartile is also the median?
3. What percent of the distribution is below the third quartile?
4. How will you determine the inter quartile range?

D. Application

The teacher will give an example to discuss to solve Q1, Q2 and Q3 by the given
formula.answer the given problem "The score of 7 students in mathematics seatwork
are: 3, 4, 4, 6, 7, 7, 8.
1. Find the lower quartile
2. Find the middle quartile
3. Find the upper quartile
4. Find the inter quartile range

V. Evaluation

The students will answer the given activity. They will write their answers in one-half
sheet of paper.
The age of 9 applicants are: 18, 20, 17, 20, 23, 25, 19, 27, 21.

VI. Assignment

Study in advance about decile of ungroup data.
