Traditional Dance “Caci” in Manggarai

Caci Dance is a game of agility between two men in Manggarai, Flores, East Nusa Tenggara
(NTT). They are whipping and warding opposing lashes. This dance originated from
Manggarai community tradition where men fight each other one on one to test their courage
and dexterity in the fight. And then it developed into an art.

The name “Caci” comes from the word “ca” meaning “one” and “ci” meaning “test”. So, this
dance can be interpreted as a one-on-one agility test. Caci Dance from Manggarai, NTT
symbol of strength looks so heroic and beautiful because it is a combination of Lomes
(beauty gestures and clothing worn), Bokak (the beauty of vocal art while singing). And it is
also combination of Lime (agility in whipping or fending off the beating of the opponent).

Caci Dance in Manggarai

Caci Dance is usually performed between two groups from two different villages. In addition,
the dance is usually performed in Penti (thanksgiving after the harvest) ceremony, Pesso Beo
(kampung kampong), welcome newlyweds, important guests, and in other merry ceremonies.
The Caci player wore a special costume and symbolized Manggarai culture.

Yosep Apul, CEO of Che’s Computer

Jl. Motang Rua
Ruteng-Flores

Dear Mr. Yosep,

I read Che’s Computer advertisement for a computer technician with interest and I am
writing to apply. I have extensive knowledge of troubleshooting computer hardware and
software and excellent technical skills. I was graduated from a one-year course training as
computer technician at Universitas Flores.
In my current work as a computer technician, I used to provide troubleshooting over
the telephone and internet to remote customers. Sometimes I use remote access to take over
customer computers with their permission to identify and solve their problems. I am often
able to guide customers through simple step-by-step solutions to technical problems.
Being a computer technician requires not only great analytical abilities but also the
interpersonal skills necessary to work well with others. I get along with my coworkers and
am very patient with customers. I treat everyone with courtesy and respect.
I would like to have an interview to further discuss the computer technician position. I
know I have a lot to offer and have enclosed my resume. Please call or email me to schedule
a time.

Sincerely,

Ronald Adipati
