get an assignment done or for one reason or the other; or perhaps you are a fan of a famous writer
and you just feel like getting to pen down something, but here comes the hurdle you need to cross-
” putting your thoughts, ideas into writing”.
This article is aimed at breaking such hurdles, by giving simple and workable guidelines on how to write
an article.

Choosing a topic:
One thing that is common to all articles is a title. This might sound simple but it is not as simple
as it looks. You need to have a vast knowledge of any topic you choose to write on, and it has to
be as simple and direct as possible. For instance, instead of writing on water treatment, try waste
water treatment. That gives your audience a precise knowledge of what you are writing about.
Drafting:
Write down everything you have on the article, everything you could possible think of; you do not
have to be so analytical since it is not the final article. It is basically for you to see all you could
put down at the moment.
Determining your audience:
What makes a good article is its ability to suit the taste of its audience. The audience you have in
mind plays an important role in how you write your article. For instance, an article on waste water
treatment addressed to secondary school students should be as basic as possible and contain less
jargon as compared to that addressed to professionals in a conference meeting.
Also, ensure you note down every possible question your audience would most likely have, you
do not necessarily have to be able to answer them at the moment.
Research:
This is an essential part of article writing as it gives you a broad and valid knowledge of your
article. It also helps to validate your knowledge on the article.
Working on your draft:
The gathered data from your data should be utilized in your drafted work more workable and
logical.
Ensure every lose end is well taken care of, utilize the use of subtitles and paragraphing.
Read, Revise, Repeat:
This caps it all, however serious care must be taken here to avoid all form of typographical errors,
omission and so on. Ensure every rule of grammar is followed to the latter.
Ensure all the questions you penned down have been answered in your article. Give your drafted
article to a proofreader, and once you are convinced you have written a good article, then your
