Instructions for question numbers 1 to 5

· This section tests the Reading Comprehension.

· There are five questions. (1 to 5).

· One mark is to be awarded for each satisfactory answer.

· Minor errors may be ignored if the sense is fairly conveyed.

Instructions for Q. No. 6

(2 marks: 1 mark for word identification and 1 mark for spelling)

· If the student identifies and writes 4 or more words related to the picture one mark is to be
awarded ignoring minor spelling mistakes.

· If at least 4 or more words identified or correctly spelt one more mark is to be awarded.

The discourse is to be evaluated and marks are to be awarded for the following 4 parameters:

· ONE MARK for satisfactory presentation of idea.

· ONE MARK for satisfactory use of vocabulary.

· ONE MARK for proper sentence construction.

· ONE MARK for conventions of writing.

Read the following passage carefully and answer the questions given

Once upon a time there was an old tiger. He was very wise. One day, the tiger saw a
hunter coming into the forest. The tiger thought, “I’m growing old. I can’t hunt anymore. So, if
I can protect the animals from this hunter, I can win their hearts.” The wise tiger called for a
meeting.

All the animals of the forest were at the meeting. The tiger said, “I saw a hunter coming
into our forest. I have a plan to protect you all from the hunter,” continued the tiger. The wolf
interrupted.
