Engine Block Failures:

There are two types of failures:

1. Changes in Size
2. Jamming

Production:

Engine Block Shop Loco repairs 7 Blocks in a month and then these blocks are sent to Rawalpindi HQ
where other components of Engine are installed.

Works:

Cap Works:

Caps becomes over size because of excess use so caps are being grinded to make them of Perfect Size.

Bearing Shells:

Bearing Shells are made up of Brass, and they have holes for Oil flow thus reduce friction. Making
movement of crankshaft fluent.

Welding:

Cap Welding:

Mainly, Caps are welded in Block Shop Loco because they become oversize by excess use. So, flat
portions of the cap are welded and then by machining perfect size is achieved.

Pilot Bore Welding:

There are two Pilot Bores:


1. Upper Pilot
2. Lower Pilot Bore

7018 low hydrogen rod is used for saddle weld.

For Pilot Bore, B class 60B soldering rod is used.

Sleeve is inserted in the upper Pilot and then Machined. After making it of perfect size bushes is
inserted.
