COMPUTER AIDED PIPE STRESS ANALYSIS

TM
CAESAR II
APPLICATIONS
CAESAR II from COADE evaluates the structural responses and
stresses of piping systems to international codes and standards.

As a registered user (No. 26440) we work with the latest version of the
software to provide comprehensive pipe stress analysis services.

Our COADE qualified engineers develop analysis models, while

clearly indicating areas of concern and providing an excellent idea
of the piping system's flexibility. Colour coded stress models and
animated displacements for any stress load case are available.

Besides the evaluation of a piping system’s response to thermal,

deadweight and pressure loads, CAESAR II analyses the effects of
wind, support settlement, seismic loads and wave loads.

CAESAR II also allows for the detailed modelling of expansion joints

and restraints such as anchors, guides and skids, as well as
selecting the proper springs for supporting systems with large
vertical deflections. Dynamic analysis capabilities include modal,
Isometric View of a Caesar II Model harmonic, response spectrum and time history analysis.

INERTIA BASES
Model VIB
APPLICATIONS
Inertia bases are designed to reduce noise and vibration
transmission between plant equipment and the building structure.
They are usually supported on helical steel spring mounts and are
used to:-

Provide stability to a system.

Lower the centre of mass.
Reduce coupled mode problems.
Minimise the effect of external forces.
Ensure an even load distribution.
Add rigidity to the plant / equipment.
Reduce the effect of centre of mass estimates.
Provide suitable anti-vibration mount fixings.
Reduce vibratory movement due to plant start-up and run-down
as the resonant frequency is passed.

RUBBER / CORK DAMPING SHEETS / PADS
Model VRPS + VSPA
APPLICATIONS
These sheets / pads are designed for vibration damping and to
reduce noise and vibration transmission from plant items at high
forcing frequencies.

Rubber profiled sheets have a bi-directional ribbed profile to the

upper and lower surfaces. When used under compressive load they
give small deflections.

VRPS Rubber and cork particle sheets are tough and resilient and are
available in many thicknesses and sheet or strip sizes.

These sheets can be used whenever there is a requirement for

damping beneath plant, or when a cast concrete / rubber / concrete
‘sandwich’ inertia base is specified.

POSITIONAL SPRING HANGERS
Model VSHP
APPLICATIONS
Spring hangers are designed to reduce noise and vibration
transmission between pipes and the building structure.

These models have a helical steel spring combined with rubber

isolating elements which are used in compression.

These positional models allow the pipes to be fitted and levelled

with ease, ensuring that even when the system is filled, the pipes
remain level, leaving transfer of the pipe weight to the steel spring
until last.

They can be used on any pipe service where vibration / movement

is a problem.

They can also be used to provide vibration isolated support for

Vertical In Line (VIL) pumps, where the pump is designed to be an
integral component of the pipework eliminating the use of flexible
connectors and inertia bases.

HEAVY DUTY RESTRAINED SPRING MOUNTS
Model VSMRH
APPLICATIONS
Heavy duty restrained spring mounts are designed to reduce noise
and vibration transmission from plant items, whilst providing
restraint for both horizontal and vertical forces, once the vertical
load is applied.

These models have a helical steel spring combined with a rubber

isolating element which is used in compression. These are fitted in a
heavy duty steel channel restraint housing, complete with steel load
plate, that provides a fixed installation / operating height.

They can be used for any plant that requires restraint against
external forces such as wind loads etc, or where a common
installation / operating height is essential.

Depending on floor type, they can be used accordingly for the

following applications:-

PRE-LOADED SPRING MOUNTS
Model VSMPR
APPLICATIONS
Heavy duty pre-loaded restrained spring mounts are designed to
reduce noise and vibration transmission from plant items, whilst
providing restraint for both horizontal and vertical forces. They offer
a height advantage over conventional restrained spring mounts
because they can be supplied pre-loaded (pre-compressed).

These models have a helical steel compression spring which is

fitted in a heavy duty steel formed ‘top-hat’ restraint housing,
complete with steel base plate and pre-loading studs. A thick ribbed
rubber sheet is supplied to fit below the baseplate, together with
rubber isolating bushes for the baseplate holes.

They can also be used for any plant that requires restraint against
internal or external forces such as start up inertia or wind loads etc.

For example, they can be used for the following applications:-

Chillers Cooling Towers Large Fans

CENTRIFUGAL AIR SEPARATORS
Model ASC
APPLICATIONS
Centrifugal air separators are designed to remove air from heating
and cooling systems.

The principle of operation on which this model is based is the

established physics of centrifugal force.

This model forces the water to rotate. This action forces the water
against the chamber wall, whilst allowing the lighter air bubbles to
gather in the centre of the chamber. The bubbles then rise to the top
from where they are vented to the outside via an automatic air vent.

Dirt particles heavier than water will collect in the bowl shaped lower
section of the air separator. These can be readily removed through
the bottom drain plug.

They can be used accordingly for the following applications:-

BRASS SEPARATORS (THREADED)
Model ASM, ASMD + DS
APPLICATIONS
Brass separators are designed to remove air, air and dirt, or dirt
only from heating and cooling systems.

These models slow the velocity of the water in its enlarged

chamber, where the water impacts onto a dynamic concentrator.

For air separation, the concentrator merges bubbles and micro-

bubbles using the principles of cohesion, which then float to the top

For dirt separation, the concentrator allows dirt particles heavier

than water to sink to the bottom of the brass chamber, where they
can be drained off periodically through the bottom drain valve.

PRESSURE STEP DE-AERATOR
Model ASPE
APPLICATIONS
Pressure step de-aerators are designed to provide active de-
aeration of micro-bubbles and dissolved air from heating and
cooling systems in high rise buildings.

This model is designed to create the most favourable conditions for

efficient air removal where centrifugal or micro-bubble air
separators can not be used, for example when the system head is
too great.

The basic operation involves isolating a volume of the system water

in the de-aeration vessel, inducing a pressure drop with a pump to
liberate dissolved air, venting and final return of the de-aerated
water to the system.

They can be used accordingly for the following applications:-
