Document Development Exposition: White Paper

ENGL 2116

Explain in detail your document’s development from planning to finish, describing your
challenges, how you overcame them, and what you learned.

Planning
It was difficult in finding out what to do in the topic, island, as there was not much to discuss about
it. I first went with the process of buying an island, then man-made islands, until I stumbled upon
floating cities. The floating cities, which are more or less islands, gave me inspiration for this paper
and for all future papers.

First Draft (for peer editing)

The style guide helped me out in setting the tone for the paper. I tried to write this out in google doc,
but couldn’t make the cover page due to the inability it has with design. Then I move over to word
doc, which made making the cover page much easier. Discovering this functionality of word doc has
helped me make flyers for my organization as well.

Second Draft (for your packet)

After looking at Matthew Seward paper, it inspired me to do a little more for my paper. Although, I
gave up on the idea and continue with the simple design I have. I added more images and fix some
wording here and there.

Final Draft (for your portfolio)

Most of the revisions were grammar and wording of sentences, there is nothing to add about
challenges.
Overall, I learned how to use word doc as a program to design paper or flyers with and how good in-
design can be.
