Good afternoon everyone. My name is Eli, an A1C student at 4:15 with Manda.

Do you want to maximize your mind’s creative potential and generate brilliant idea?

Do you need to come up with brilliant idea or finding straight solution to any problem?

I’m here today to inform you about a proven effective technique which is a mind map. Please, don’t
interrupt me during my presentation. I will answer all of your question at the end. I have planned to
be brief, I’m going to inform you first what a mind map is, second, what we can do with a mind map
and last I will give you some mind map software.

I’d like to start by

I- What’s a Mind Map?

1- Definition.
It’s a graphical technique for visualizing connections between several ideas or pieces
of information.
It is used to represent or “break down” complex information in a simple, visual
format.

2- Tony Buzan.
Mind mapping were used by many smart people in history (such as Aristote or
Leonard de Vinci). But it’s formalized by Tony Buzan a British psychologist and author
of several books on the subject of memorizing and effectiveness (think most
effective).
Mind map is a method proven to boost productivity, creativity and memory.
What makes a mind map so effective is that it allows us to use both sides of our
brains at once. The left side of the brain controls logic, analytics and details. It’s very
structured and organized. The right side is creative, imaginative and likes to think
freely.

3- What a mind map looks like.

Like a tree.
Start with image or word in the middle of blank page. The subject is show in the
center.
From this center, branches with topics go outward. Each branch shows information
on a certain topic.
Another element is a picture and keyword in branch avoiding phrases
What make mind map more effective is using colors in stimulating images
throughout.
Mind map can be drawn by hand or using computer software. When creating a mind
map, there are several elements to consider including the map’s central image,
branches, colors, keywords and images.

We have seen what a mind map is in general. Now let’s move on of the use of mind
map.

II- Use of mind map.

1- Note taking.
From a training course, book or when listening to another person. Outline the ideas
and information you hear and transform it into a well-organized piece of knowledge.
Mind map create a clear overview of information.

2- Meeting.
Outline the meeting: organize the items, add key points to them and start talking and
discussing them.

3- Studying.
It’s a wonderful companion when studying. You can summarize your lesson or books
in mind map. Often one book can fit in a single sheet.
It will help you in creating overview in what seems to be an overwhelming amount of
data.

4- Solving problem.
Very often it is not about the complexity of the problem, but its formulation and
approach. Using mind map can help to bypass the usual panic instinct of brain when
confronted with a problem to solve.
Mind map opens up possibilities and calm you. When you mind map for problem
solving, you instantly gain more clarity, so you can find answers more easily.

5- Planning.
Everything can be plan with Mind map, whether it would be a project at work, a
party at home, your next exam or whatever you want.

6- Brainstorming.
Mind map promotes the expression and generation of new ideas through associative
thinking.

III- Mind map software.

You can download on the internet some software like:
Mindmeister.
MindNode.
Wisemapping.
Mindomo.
iMindo.
Edraw.
iMindMap.
and Xmind.

Let’s summarize briefly what we’ve looked with a mind map
