Class Dojo/Behavior
We use a positive behavior system within our classroom. Students will be able to move their clip up
and down the chart throughout the day. If a student makes it to the top by the end of the day, they will
get a special treat. We also will have a “Friday Treat” each week to reward good behavior. In addition to
the daily behavior report, I use ClassDojo to encourage positive behaviors. Each student has an avatar,
and his or her avatar earns points for positive behavior. Students who earn 60 points a week will earn a
trip to the treasure chest. I have attached an invite that allows you to connect with my Dojo classroom.
Homework
Homework sheets will be sent home in your student’s Daily Folder each Monday. Have your student
complete and return them in the Homework Folder on Friday or the following Monday. Daily folders
should be turned in every day.
Reading Homework will consist of a Reading Fluency Folder. More information on this will be provided
in the Fluency Folder. I highly encourage you to read with your student daily. I have provided a monthly
reading log for you to fill out. I will reward students with 3 Dojo points for daily reading.
For Math Homework, students will complete online practice, using either Moby Max or Zearn. In
addition, Eureka math paper practice sheets will be sent home to complete by Friday.
Handwriting
Bad habits formed now are very difficult to correct.
Please supervise while your child writes their homework. Remind your student to: Put their name on top of their paper.
Form letters by beginning at the top and moving to the bottom. Use all three line spaces. The letters should go to the
baseline. Don’t stop too short or go beyond the baseline.
Handwriting is part of the Language Arts grade.
I hope that this information will help you and your child get ready for a new and very exciting school year! Please
remember that there is more information on how our classroom runs that you will receive at the beginning of the
school year and as the year progresses!
Thank you for sharing your child with me this school year. I look forward to a fabulous year filled with learning, growth,
I am looking forward to
