Methodology

This chapter describes the research design, setting, and population, sample and sampling

instrument, data collection, and data analysis

Research design

The present study followed a quantitative research design based on descriptive

method. This approach was chosen given that the purpose of the research is to describe and

analyze the severity of Internet piracy

Setting and Population

The area covered by the study will be the institution of De La Salle John Bosco

College and the targets of this study will be the grade 7 to grade 12 students

Instruments

The instruments and tools that are going to aids the researchers in conducting the

research are questionnaires with a sets of specific questions that aims to answer the

statement of the problem of this research

Data Sampling

To get the number of respondents or sample, the researcher will use Slovin’s

formula to get an accurate result. The formula is n = N / (1+Ne2), n – Number of

respondents, N – Population size, e – Margin of error. The institution that we will conduct

our research on, has a population of 1362 students (from Grade 7 to 12) and using Slovin’s

formula we calculate the sample size of our research is 309 respondents with the margin of

error 0.05
Data Gathering

To be able to gather the data, the researchers should create a permission letter to

continue the validity of the research a letter is required to be able to gain permission in

conducting research. After gaining permission, the researchers will go and request each

section to be surveyed. When the participants accepting the request to be surveyed, the

researchers will hand out a questionnaire that will be answered by the participants and will

be collected after the participants is (are) done answering the questionnaire

Data Analysis

When all answered questionnaire are collected the researchers will then analyze the

data collected by getting results using logic and rationality to conclude the perception of

Internet piracy in De La Salle John Bosco College amongst its students
