There  are  two  kinds  of  tremolo  in  this  work:  
2. A  small  Tam-­‐tam  (played  with  
=  Play  with  brush’s  handle  
superball)   a. The  ‘sweeping’  tremolo  which  is

4.  An  empty  wine  bottle   written  in  a  normal  note-­‐head:

Text  is  partially  taken  from  the  first  and  last  
An  empty  wine  bottle  is  required  for  and  is  
verses  of  a  poem  by  Charles  Baudelaire  
a  central  ‘instrument’  of  this  work.  In  the  
titled     =  diamond-­‐head  notes  in  this  work  
score,  it  is  divided  into  three  areas  (scored  
indicate  the  finger  circular  movement:  
as  three  single-­‐  lines)  from  top  to  bottom  as   L  âme du vin:
gently  rubbing  finger  in  a  clockwise  or  anti-­‐
shown  in  the  diagram  below:  
Un soir, l'âme du vin chantait dans les clockwise  motion  along  the  rim  of  a  wine  
glass.  Pitch  must  be  produced.
