WASHING DEPARTMENT

The garment was is a new technology in the garment trade. Normally washing mean
cleaning something. But in the garment trade, only cleaning of garments is not the garment
wash. Garment washing is a technology which is applied to change or modify the outlook,
appearance, comfort, and design of garments. Garment washing is applied on solid dyed
garments or solid printed fabric.

TYPES OF WASHING IN THE COMPANY-

1. Normal Wash
2. Acid wash

NORMAL WASH-
Process in which heavy or slight soiling is removed and transferred to the water in the form
of a solution or dispersion. Washing has the effect of cleaning surfaces. The resulting effect
is several physical/chemical processes. Washing and cleaning constitute a complex process,
during which soiling is removed by means of physical separation, with or without
substance conversion, from a substrate. Industrial washing processes can be categorized as
solution washing, dispersion washing and reaction washing.
ACID WASH-

During Acid wash, pumic stones are used. By the action of pumic stones, irregular fading
affect is developed on the heavy garments like denims, thick canvas/twill, and sweater. The
pumic stones act a brushing action on the garment fabric surface. The area where more
brushing action takes place there more dicolour or fadding affect is developed and the area
where less brushing action takes place less brushing action and takes place less fadding
affect will be developed. The multi-layer fabric areas like –collar, calf, pocket, placket, side
seam etc area will be brushed more than the single layer areas.

MACHINES USED DURING WASHING-

1.WASHING MACHINE-The company is using ramson washing machine of capacity of 30kg.
It is fully automatic and has front loading in it. It has motor size of 1.5 HP and has a
minimum order quantity of 1 unit.
2. TUMBLER-

The company has total 3 tumbler in the washing area. The tumbler provide smooth finish to
the garment , good durability , superb accuracy , handles extreme pressure and high
temperature.

3. HYDRO MACHINE-
The company has the ramson hydro machine of maximum capacity of 100-200 kg. It has
maximum motor power of 1.2-10 kw and the speed of the drum is 750-1000 rpm of the
motor.

WORKFLOW PROCESS OF WASHING DEPARTMENT-

STEP 1-
Firstly the garments are received in the washing department through a challan which is
made in the production process.
STEP 2- Then the washing recipe is made for the washing of the garment.
STEP 3-
Then garment is
washed in the detergent with washing powder with required temperature and pressure

STEP 4-
Then garment goes in the tumbler in which the softener is used to soft the garment to give
it smooth finish and colour as requirement of buyer.

STEP
5-
Then the garment goes in the dryer where all the washed garments are dried at a required
temperature in which there are hot dry cold dry for a certain time.

STEP 6-
Then then washing department made a report of that style i.e washing programmes in
which all the washing details are given. This report is made for the buyer if they want to
know about washing details.

STEP 7 -
All the time is recorded in the sheet of all the washed garments of different styles.

STEP 8-
The washing department also made a daily washing PH. Test report in which all the ratios
are given of after and before wash and the type of wash done for a style as total washing per
day in the washing department.
