Contribution to Nation and Community

Based on the statistics in 2016, the capital region of the Philippines have 2,405,122 motor
vehicles registered. The category of motorcycles / tricycles dominating the number with 951,231
registrations and the total numbers are increasing 3.65% per year. Based on the 2017 study by the
Boston Consulting Group, it shows that the Metro Manila rank 3rd in worst traffic Southeast Asia with an
average of 66 minutes stuck in daily traffic and this also results to economic profit loss as the traffic
worsen every single day. Studying and understanding the relevance of time with relation to traffic and
creating a product to help is the wisest thing to do in order to lessen the congestion and make the traffic
move. Developing the device will benefit everyone who passes the congested intersection every day.

Contribution to Environmental Sustainability

Smoke from cars and heat of engines affecting the temperature of the environment around the
area every time a congestion happens. Every time a car is stuck there is a consumption of gas that can
be avoided if there is no congestion and there will be a good air quality at the same time. In spite of
having enough source of fuel the time of shortage for it will still come and researchers are finding ways
to lessen the usage or consumption of fuels. Using the proposed device due to its ability to decongest
and improve the air quality will provide first step of solution in environmental issues specifically in air
pollution.

Contribution to existing body of knowledge

Various studies and experiments on advancing traffic control system by means of using high
technology devices were already developed to solve the congested traffic in the most populated country
in the world, India. Bringing it in the one of the worst traffic places in Southeast Asia (Philippines) will
provide a big contribution needed to possible improvements of the device in the future.
