Document Development Exposition: Instructions and Usability Memo

ENGL 2116

Explain in detail your document’s development from planning to finish, describing your
challenges, how you overcame them, and what you learned.

Planning
The planning was easier for this assignment because we had more people and was able to divide the
work load. The planning the scrip went very smoothly with multiple members contributing to the
assignment. We had more ideas because we were all helping and each other get to the right place.

First Draft (for peer editing)

I would have to say this was one of the hardest part for me because I did not do very well in
expressing my thoughts out loud when we were moving from station to station. However, I did
manage to tell myself to read out loud and express majority of my thoughts to the other groups.

For my group, I was able to obtain information by asking questions to the user like “what is troubling
about this page” “what do you think about this page?” “can you tell me how you feel right now?”
and etc. This was very helpful in obtain information from the user because it reminds them to tell us
what they were experiencing.

Second Draft (for your packet)

The second draft was easier because with the information we obtain we simply change the image
around so the user can read and see the image at the same time incase the got lost. We suggested
some changed in the instructions and make steps so the user can have a clear understanding of what
they were doing and following.

Final Draft (for your portfolio)

For the final draft I made changed to the user feedback and made it more specific. There were not
much to change for the final draft. Overall, the memo was one of the longest assignment but it was
easier to me because we were all in group.
