Araw ng Kalayaan or Day of Freedom also known as Annual
National Holiday in the Philippines observed on June 12, commemorating the 120th anniversary of the Proclamation of the Philippine Independence Day. It has been the country’s National Day. Filipino communities in other parts of the world organize parades and other events to celebrate this historical event. The Department of Education as one of the government agencies that promotes and inculcates young learner’s mind to continuous uphold the freedom. The Department is annually commemorating this historic event through the schools by holding a program in celebration of Independence Day. So with this, Lanton Elementary School is yearly engaging this momentous event that show how important it is and how valuable all the sacrifices and the heroic deeds of Filipino heroes to acquire freedom. The Araling Panlipunan Coordinator, Ma’am Hezelyn P. Flores called an urgent meeting to all grade chairmen to plan out activities for the said event. All grade chairmen were present and actively contributed an idea and suggested an activity to be implemented in the occasion. The school principal Sir Mohamad A. Andatuan approved all the activities and its schedules presented. The different activities will be participated by all grade level and should be in line with today’s year theme: “Pagbabagong Ipinaglaban, Alay sa Masaganang Kinabukasan.” All grade levels supported the program by joining the variety of talents such as a poem, oration, writing an essay, poster making, and quiz bee. Every Friday of the week, weekly trivia was given. The week is capped with cultural commemorative activities in the morning and in the afternoon. The winners in various contests was proclaimed and awarded during the culmination program
