Lanton Elementary School has produced a number of professionals in its
existence as an elementary school. And it is continuously growing in terms of learner’s population and teacher’s population. LES is located at Purok 5 Lanton, Apopong, General Santos City. The school was geographically positioned by the hillside and approximately 3 kilometers away from the nearest private and public schools within barangay Apopong. It is accessible and can be reached through available jeepneys, cabs, tricycles and any sort of vehicles. The school did not experience major problems regarding crime and human induced hazards except for frequent theft of school property and few cases of fire due to faulty wiring. The surrounding community once experienced drought but it did not last long. The school and the community recovered shortly after the drought. The total number of pupils enrolled in the S.Y. 2018 -2019 was 2, 648. There are 56 instructional rooms available in the school but 5 of them are subject for repair. The school has enough learner materials for the pupils to use, based on the school report card books were almost one is to one for the learners. The health and nutritional status of the pupils as of S.Y. 2018 -2019 reach to 250 beneficiaries both wasted and severely wasted. The feeding program of the school was very helpful in catering the needs of these children who were under nourished. In addition, the school utilizes its funding resources thru MOOE, canteen funds, donors, and local government units as noticeable. School awards and recognition have been an evident; in fact the school received awards in district, division and regional level competitions. The school has 75 teaching personnel under the nationally- funded having the plantilla positions. Teacher assignments working in this school were given ancillary services rendered as a guidance teacher, ICT coordinator, property custodian, office clerk, canteen manager and academic coordinators. Every year, there is training and seminars for teacher’s professional development. Inset training conducted during LAC session is evidently observed in this school to provide teachers the essential skills needed by them in facilitating 21st century learning to their pupils. The school allows and send teachers to attend division, regional, national and international trainings for teachers. The school takes pride of the projects and interventions implemented to improve basic competencies of the teachers; it has its own mechanism for sustained school-based training and constantly consults and uses the results of the NCBTS – Teacher’s Strength and Needs Assessment as basis for successful training. The school enjoys a continuing good relationship with its community, parents, and stakeholders and this school year manifest several evidence of this solid connection. Attendance rate of parents and guardians was frequently around 74% in all extra- curricular activities facilitated by the school. Highest accumulated contribution was during the Valentine celebration amounted to Php 55, 000. Other source of funds were used for the benefit of the school and its learners.
