I. INTRODUCTION

The school has been the basic foundation of skills and learning. It is also known as an
ideal point for a project. In connection to this, to show full support to the program of the Department
of Agriculture…the ‘Gulayan sa Paaralan”, Andarayan-Bugallon Elementary School adhered by
mandating all the grade levels from Kinder to Grade-VI to cultivate and plant vegetables to their own
designated garden plots.
II. OBJECTIVES
This activity aims to:

1. Awaken the learners’ consciousness about the importance of eating vegetables and their
effect on healthy living;
2. Increase their awareness on hunger issues and actions to mitigate malnutrition among their
family; and
3. Motivate the community to cooperate and show reproduction of green leafy vegetables in
their backyard.

III. ACTIVITIES
During the beginning of the school year, learners, parents and the advisers started
helping each other to prepare the area for gardening. It took few days of weeding and soil cultivating
before finally making the area with a well-prepared soil for planting. Parents and learners from Kinder
to Grade-VI planted their designated plots with different green leafy and fruit bearing vegetables.
Some of these vegetables include; kamote, gabi, talong, and okra. Learners show diligence and
consistency in watering and cultivating their vegetable plants. Then after several weeks, they started
