Usually we say 'in the last [few] years'. That talks about something that started maybe two or three years ago. Note

We want to know what their background is.

When we ask about someone's background that means we want to know about their history. Note the following:

She has a background in construction. / He was not hired because of his background.

not interesting/ very ordinary

When good things happen by chance we call that luck. Note the following:

I have a mundane life as a government servant. / Travel to countries can spice up your mundane life.

:Vice-versa

My lifestyle isn't suitable for most people I meet and vice-versa.

The phrase 'vice-versa' simply means that the opposite is true. Note the following:

Cats do not like dogs and vice-versa. / People have money, but no free time and vice-versa.
