Assessment Analysis

1) As a group there is a heavy bimodal distribution. It looks like the students either
understood the topics and did well in the class, or didn’t get it at all. As a whole the
students were strongest in addition. On average they scored higher on that topic than
subtraction or division. Division will need to be reviewed before moving forward. Based
on the scores it seems that the class did not understand the concept before the
assessment because only 3 students passed that section.
2) Juan was the only one to score 100% on the assessment. Jack did well across the board.
He had consistent scores. There is room for improvement, but he did score much higher
than many of his classmates. Cody lost a few points in addition, but scored very high in
subtraction and division. All three of these students show a strong understanding of the
concepts.
3) Molly will need some extra support. She did good with the addition problems, but didn’t
fare too well with subtraction and division. She scored especially low in subtraction.
Claire’s score was also very low. Her scores were uniform across the topics, but she had
a particularly hard time with subtraction. Luke is going to need extra support across the
board. He scored the lowest in the class. He got consistent scores, so he is going to need
extra support across all topics.
