2. In this online activity, my online students will use a simulation on trade systems and
foreign relations to have an individual experience based upon their unique choices. Each
child’s end result will be different, and I will grade them online by having them submit
their results with a reflection about the activity.

Online Activity The instructor will start by introducing the topic to the
students with an introductory PowerPoint presented to the
students using a screen cast of the PowerPoint and the
microphones. After presenting the lesson to the students, the
instructor will turn on the students microphones for a brief
Q+A session before showing the students the online activity.
The instructor will then have the students follow the link to the
trade ruler game on The Nobel Prize website, found at
http://educationalgames.nobelprize.org/educational/economic-
sciences/trade/game/ruler.html. After completing the game, the
students will reconvene with the instructor and the
microphones would be turned on. The game will have the
Pedagogy

students make deals, monitor production of goods, while also

handling the communities reactions to their discussions. Once
finished with the game, the students will then discuss their
results and how their countries welfare levels ended up at the
end of the game with a particular focus on why they ended
where they did. Afterwards the students would discuss ways
that the government handles trade relations and how those
decisions can be made. At the conclusion of the lesson the
students will submit a reflection with a screenshot of their score
for the instructor to grade.

Technology For this activity the class would be using www.join.me . This
screensharing software allows students to log into a meeting
where they can chat, chime in, and view what is on the
Technology

instructors desktop. The software also creates a custom URL

for students to log into making it easy for them to find the
meeting.
