Knitted Together
"...speaking the truth in love, we are to grow up into Him in every way who is the head, into Christ, from
whom the whole body, joined and knit together by every joint with which it is supplied, when each part is
working properly, makes bodily growth and upbuilds itself in love." Ephesians 4:15-16 RSV
"For Thou didst form my inward parts, Thou didst knit me together in my mother's womb."
Psalm 139:13 RSV

PASTOR’S NOTES:

When science explains how things are in the world, one of the concepts that come to mind is the Second
Law of Thermodynamics, which states that there is the natural tendency of any isolated system to degen-
erate into a more disordered state. Simply put, things break down over time and it does not get better by
itself. And I know too well of degeneration of our church which includes, our carpets in the fellowship hall
that needs replacement, the old light fixtures going out over time, old swings that were replaced with
new ones and our American flag in the field had to be replaced with new ones.
In June, through VBS we learned that God plans to bring all the necessary pieces together to make things
work again and ultimately to save us. God is at work to restore our lives. When we have so much broken-
ness and degeneration in our lives, we need God to reveal His mercy, His grace and His love to bring about
change into our lives.
What do you think of when you hear the word “repentance”? The word simply means “to change one’s
mind.” It is when we experience a fundamental change in how we view ourselves as sinners and how we
view Christ as our Savior. It is the fruit of true faith that brings about a radical change in our thinking, be-
lieving, and living. And that change begins when we realize that we have sinned against God and deserve
nothing short of punishment. Remember, we never sin alone, and we never sin in secret either, because
God is always there. Because God already knows all that we do, we don’t have to fear Him or be ashamed
to confess our sins before Him. God comes to us to forgive and God comes to us to restore our lives.
We need to see God at work rather than focus on the brokenness in the world and the brokenness in us.
Things cannot get better by ourselves, but we need to confront God’s love for our lives to be healed, for-
given, and restored. Repentance is the first step towards revival. And we pray for the revival in our church
and in our lives.

NEWS FROM THE SESSION

We hope everyone has had an enjoyable summer vacation and participated in some of our church activi-
ties. As kids go back to school and we look forward to fall, Rev. Choi will continue teaching the Wednes-
day night Bible study and showing the monthly movie. Please join us for these opportunities for fellow-
ship and enrichment of our faith.
During Sunday worship if you have trouble hearing Rev. Choi, please ask for one of the new personal lis-
tening devices. The people who use them say the sound is crystal clear. Also, we will start having an elder
lead part of the worship service. Please contact Bill Newberry if you are willing to help.
We are grateful that Rev. Peter and Angela Choi are editing and publishing this Newsletter, but we want
to find another person to help with this. If you have some computer skills and would be willing to help
as the NEWSLETTER EDITOR please let Rev. Peter or Jim Hargrove know.
Continuing to make improvements to our facilities, Danny Curvin is getting estimates to install new floor-
ing in the Fellowship Hall. We are looking at possible alternatives to carpet that might be easier to main-
tain. In other projects we will be working with Angela Choi to paint and upgrade the rooms used for chil-
dren activities. We will also be working with Rev. Choi to install a wooden deck on the back of the
Manse. Contact Danny Curvin if you can help with these projects.
We continue to pray for those members suffering with physical and emotional problems. May the Peace
of Christ be with you.

Jim Hargrove, Clerk of Session
