is called ____________.

(b) The process of changing water vapour into water

is called ____________.

(c) No rainfall for a year or more may lead to

_________ in that region.

(c) The process of water changing into its vapour, is

(d) The evaporation of water takes place only in

sunlight. (8)

(e) Water vapour condenses to form tiny droplets of

water in the upper layers of air where it is cooler. (9).

Ans. (c) and (e) are true statements.

Q.4. Suppose you want to dry your school uniform

quickly. Would spreading it near an anghiti or
heater help ? If yes, how ?

Ans. Yes, by doing so the rate of evaporation is increased

due to heat given out by the anghiti or heater.

Q.5. Take out a cooled bottle of water from

refrigerator and keep it on a table. After some
time you notice a puddle of water around it.
Why?

Ans. The cold surface of cooled bottle cools the air around
it and the water vapours present in the air condense
on the surface of bottle.

Q.6. To clean their spectacles, people often breathe out

on glasses to make them wet. Explain why the
glasses becomes wet.

Ans. The air coming out of our mouth contains moisture

and so it condenses on the glasses to make it wet.

Q.7. How are clouds formed ?

Ans. The water vapour present in the air moves higher and
higher in the atmosphere. It gets cooler and cooler as
the air moves up. At sufficient height, the air
becomes so cool that the vapours condense to form
water droplets that remain floating in the air and
appear as clouds to us.

Q.8. When does a drought occur ?

Ans. Drought occurs when it does not rain for a long

period in a particular region.
