Orbital fissures.

Superior Orbital fissure. Situated between the greater and lesser wings of the sphenoid bone.

It transmits cranial nerves 3, 4, 5i, 6, The superior ophthalmic veins and a branch of the middle
meningeal artery.

The middle meningeal artery may communicate with the ophthalmic artery at this location, This is
one of the anastomotic connections between the internal and external carotid arteries.

Inferior orbital fissure. Connects the orbit to the pterygopalatine fossa. More anteriorly it connects
the orbital cavity to the infratemporal fossa.

It translates the infraorbital nerve (Branch of Maxillary CnV) Which has passed via the foramen
rotundum from the middle cranial fossa into the pterygopalatine fossa.

It also transmits the inferior ophthalmic veins and the infra orbital artery.

The infraorbital groove continues from the inferior orbital fissure to transmit the infraorbital nerve
