Well Path Design – True vertical, Horizontal,

directional

How simple you can create any types of well in

Petrel!
1. New vertical well

Get a X,Y location Right Mouse Click

from status bar on well and select
where the vertical insert well from
well is planned in drop down menu,
3D window provides name, x, y
location and TOP
and BTM MD.
 2. Pure Horizontal well from a surface/map/general
intersection

Display a
surface/map/general
intersection in 3D window at
the depth where the planned
well path is Activate “well path design”
under process pane, and click
for “start new well” at function
bar.
New designed well path will
be stored at well tree, under
Proposed well folder.

We can change the well type :

simple, standalone, side track
when go into setting for the
new designed well.
 3. Deviated well from general intersection

Insert a general For example, I will

design and click on start
new well icon at function
bar and start digitized
