BIO – JUAN DUSSÁN

Juan Dussán is a Colombian screen composer based in New York City. He is


steadily growing as an orchestrator, producer and music editor among the
film scoring community.

Dussán has scored films, documentaries and animations for students from
NYU, Columbia University and The School of Visual Arts. Some of these
projects have been awarded. He was a winner of the NYU Film Scoring
Competition in his first semester with his score for the animated short film
“New Inside," which premiered at the Peter Jay Sharp Theatre in Symphony
Space, New York City.

Born in 1995 in Medellín, Colombia, Juan was formerly trained in classical


piano at EAFIT University and was awarded 1st place in various
competitions. He earned an honorable mention at the International Chopin
Piano Competition, Peru (2015). After graduating, he started getting
involved with the film composition local scene, where he played a big role in
arranging and producing orchestral film music concerts and workshops
alongside composer Julio C. Sierra. Soon after this, Juan decided to pursue
a career as a film composer. Passionate about his dream, he got admitted
into NYU, in the acclaimed Screen Scoring Master ’s Program with the
direction of Professor Mark Suozzo.
