PART-A (9*2=18 Marks)

1. What is power system analysis?

2 What are the functions of power system analysis?
3. What are the components of power system?
4. Define per-unit value.
5. How are the base values chosen in per-unit representation of a power system?
6. What are the advantages of per-unit representation?
7. Write the equation for per-unit impedance.
8 Write the equation for per-unit impedance if change of base occurs.
9 What is single- or one-line diagram?

PART-B (2*16= 32 Marks)

10)a. Explain modern power system with neat diagram.

(OR)
b. Explain the per unit analysis of single phase and three phase in detail.
11)a. Draw the p.u impedance diagram for the power system shown below. Neglect
resistance and use a base of 100 MVA, 220KV in 50Ω line . The ratings of the generator,
motor and transformers are:
Generator: 40 MVA 25 KV X=20%
Motor: 50 MVA 11KV X=30%
Y-Y Transformer: 40 MVA 33 Y-220 Y KV X=15%
Y-Δ Transformer: 30 MVA 11 Y-220 Y KV X=15%
(OR)
b. Draw the impedance diagram for the electrical power system shown in figure (b)
showing all impedance in per unit on a 100-MVA base. Choose 20-KV as the base for
generator. The three phase power and line-line ratings are given below.

Generator 1: 90 MVA 20KV X=9%

Generator 2: 90 MVA 18KV X=9%
Transformer 1: 80 MVA 20/200 KV X=20%
Transformer 2: 80 MVA 200/20 KV X=20%
Line: 200 KV X=120Ω
