November 2012, a local commuter named Paulo Salvosa
went viral because of a video which showed how she
shouted foul words to a lady guard at the LRT station.

She was dubbed as the Amalyer Girl for reiterrating the

sentence “so you're telling me I'm a liar?” which was used
as a mockery for a long period of time here in the
Philippines.

Paula has been a victim of
cyberbullying as she was used as
a pawn for memes and her video
was made fun of by people
producing parody versions. This
incident showed the Philippines
how powerful social media can be
and how it can greatly affect a
person.
Case
Breakdown
Aside from being mocked and used for memes, this incident is
proved to be an example of Cyberbullying since a massive amount
of people who watched the video online commented negative and
threatening thoughts and opinions about Paulo's acts and judged
her immediately without even asking her reason for doing such
action towards the lady guard. Also, the video was taken without
the consent of the persons involved.
Understand
and Prevent
"With the various uses and advantages
provided by the social media, a person
must be responsible with his use of the
use of social media. He must make good
use of his very right to freely express
himself responsibly while ensuring that
others enjoy the same freedom.”
