3. Communications

patient as appropriate to situation (e.g.

treatment room or simulation).

Respects patient's rights to privacy and Meets Expectations [10

confidentiality. pts]

Acts and speaks in a respectful manner Meets Expectations [10

with staff members. pts]

Asks questions in an appropriate manner. Partially Meets Expectations [5 pts]

Additional Comment: We would like to see Lauren
being a bit more pro-active with her train of
thought when asking questions about cases she
is working on. She should practice articulating
the questions that she has and then evaluating
what she thinks the answer is prior to asking
questions about cases she has encountered
before. I think this will help her become more
independent and prepare her for clinics where
she may be on her own.

Accepts correction and direction in a Meets Expectations [10

professional manner. pts]

Contributes as a member of the medical Partially Meets Expectations [5 pts]

dosimetry team. Additional Comment: We would like to see her start
to pick up more cases. Both cases that she has
not encountered yet as well as cases she has
seen in the past. She has not taken on many
cases beyond what she needs for her comps.

Uses clinical time wisely. Partially Meets Expectations [5 pts]

Additional Comment: This goes along with the
amount of cases planned. We are going to work
with Lauren to help with time management so that
she can more efficiently work on cases.

Follows school and hospital policies and Meets Expectations [10

procedures. pts]

Takes initiative in observing and assisting Does Not Meet Expectations [1 pts]
in dosimetry activities. Additional Comment: I would say at this point in
the program it is the expectation that Lauren
knows which cases she needs additional practice
on as well as new cases she needs to tackle. We
are a bit concerned that two semesters in a row
now her competencies have been completed at
the last minute. We would like to see her working
harder to practice comp related cases prior to
attempting a real comp, and then completing her
comps far before they are do so that undo stress
is not put on not only her but the clinic in an
attempt to help her get them done.

computer and design treatment plan in pts]
accordance with prescription.

Is able to identify anatomy and contour Meets Expectations [10

appropriate structures. pts]

Utilizes critical thinking/problem solving Partially Meets Expectations [5 pts]

skills in approaching treatment planning. Additional Comment: I think this ties well into the
theme of where we expect Lauren to be at this
stage in the program. We would like to see her try
to navigate problems by looking where she needs
to go and then developing an idea or plan prior to
asking the dosimetrists. Then once a plan is
formulated, consult dosimetrists for their opinion.
I think this methodology would help with
confidence in trouble shooting as well as help
solidify concepts.
