The method to provide axial stop support for High density polyethylene pipe has

long haunted engineers who feel like they drew the short straw when given the task
to design HDPE piping.
HDPE has higher coefficient of thermal expansion. This results in higher expansion
of the pipe when laid in high temperature areas.
If the piping system is stress critical then it is imperative that the support
system is looked at with fine toothed comb.
The quest for scouting out the best points for providing the axial stop is only
half the challenge. You are still faced with the daunting prospect of having to
design that support.
Design of axial support for HDPE pipe will require holistic approch as it may
affect other parts of the piping system.
It is extremely advisable that all the loads are considered in designing it.
