Module 1: Geography as a Discipline

In this module, you shall be acquainted with the proper fundamental concepts and skills for
geographical thinking.

Topics:

 Introducing Geography
 Paradigms and Histories of Geography
 Fields and Organizations of Geography
 Basic Geographical Concepts
 Research Methods in Geography

Module 2: Maps

Maps have been the quintessential human expression of our expanding world instead of
memorizing capitals and country names, we will focus on the reasons why maps have been useful both
for noble and sinister ends in the following topics:

 Maps
 Maps Design
 Map Interpretation
 Critical Cartography

Module 3: Spaces

In the course of human existence, we have made sense and use of our world through a long list
of concepts:

Space, places, landscape, earth, world nature, culture, population, economy, territory, settlement, land,
disaster, and more Nuff said.

Module 4: Cases

At this stage of semester, the students will be tasked to present case studies using the previous
topics about pertinent phenomena such as those listed below:

 Migration
 Modernization
 Industrialization
 Globalization
 Urbanization

Implications about the Philippines about such phenomena shall likewise be sought.
