Personal Statement

I am graduated from Wachemo University with BA in Economics on July 03, 2015. Currently, I
am working at the National Bank of Ethiopia (Central Bank of a country) as a Macroeconomics
Assistant Research Officer under the Monetary Stability Cluster. I am responsible to follow up
the development of macroeconomic variables and writing periodic development analysis reports
on same for the quarterly and annual publication of the Bank. Most Importantly I am responsible
to undertake policy oriented research works on various issues that are relevant to Ethiopian
Economy and it is my central task. As a researcher from central bank, I am highly interested in
doing research which would solve practical development problems of my country. With this
regard, financial and real sectors are the two prominent sectors that I am highly concerned. To
deal with development problems of my country, the knowledge and experience I will obtain
during the program will help me by improving my research experience. During my stay in the
program, I hope I will develop professional experiences in designing and implementation of
economic policies in developing countries. During my stay in the course, I expect to get practical
lesson from developing and developed countries on how they actually manage their economies.
This enable me to relate the experiences of these countries with that of Ethiopia and to look at
my countries real problem in managing the economy. I will further relate the experiences of
these countries in relation to various economic theories and work on it to come up with better
result. Currently, I am assistant researcher and I am supposed to come up with research outputs
that the country uses for economic policy purposes. I am also required to do research works on
various macroeconomic issues and come up with specific policy issues. Therefore, this Masters
program will help me a lot to strengthen my research and policy output capacity by inducing
appropriate knowledge and international experience. The research activities to be practiced
during my stay on the program will upgrade my skill in dealing with practical research activities
that addresses the real development problem of my country. I strongly believe that the skills and
knowledge I have developed on theoretical and empirical aspects coupled with the interest I have
to study in your respected institution would make me the right person you are looking for. Thank
