Course Description & Outline

Practicum in Human Services provides occupational specific training and focuses on the development of consumer services,
early childhood development and services, counseling and mental health services, family and community services careers and
personal care services.

Grading Policy
District's Grading Weights

*My grading weights are different from the district's grading weights due to the fact that I do not give six-weeks tests. There is
more emphasis on classwork and project work due to the type of class I teach.

*All classwork is expected to be completed in class. I try not give homework. Your child will have more than enough time to
complete assignments, provided they are using their time wisely (i.e. Doing what is asked of them).

*Please note that any make-up work, due to absence, will need to be completed by the end of the week (Saturday @
11:59pm). All assignments are on Schoology and can be completed and turned in online. I DO NOT GIVE MAKE-UP WORK TO
A STUDENT THAT CHOSE NOT TO COMPLETE AN ASSIGNMENT OR TURN IN AN ASSIGNMENT WHEN IT WAS DUE!

Tutoring is available after school on Wednesdays.
Attendance
 Regular and punctual attendance is the greatest single factor in school success
 If your child is absent in this class, it is counted as two (2) absences. The class is double-blocked and students will
receive 2 credits for this course.
Tardies:
 Students are expected to arrive to class on time every class. There is NO EXCUSE to be late at any time. If a student is
late he/she should arrive to class with a tardy pass from the school office or a pass from a teacher.

Internet Usage
This class will utilize many websites that will aid in their class work. While researching their information, the students are
expected to stay on task and not deviate to any video/streaming sites or any other sites blocked by the district. Any child caught
doing so will be written up.

Junior Class Fees

Juniors will incur certain fees for their internship. Shirts will be purchased in September.
Event Fee
T-shirt for internship ~$15-$25
Polo for internship (this is only for ~$20-$30
students working in a professional
atmosphere)
*Students will either purchase a t-shirt or polo for their internship (not both, unless they choose to purchase both).
