Success Criteria Pupils can read and understand the sentences by identifying true or
false statements and colour the picture correctly.
Lesson Outline Pre-lesson
Aim: to review clothes vocabulary
Stick the flashcards on the board in a line.
Elicit what each one is. Take one away. Elicit all the clothes
including the missing one.
Repeat until there are no clothes.
Continue adding one flashcard at a time until they are all back
on the board.

1. Look and read. Write yes or no.
Aim: to practise reading for specific information
Draw pupils’ attention to the picture. (SB p88)
Point to each character and elicit what the character is wearing.
Distribute worksheet 1.
Pupils read the sentences in pairs and write yes or no.
Pupils compare their answers with other pairs before the class
check.

1. Read the poem and colour the picture.
Aim: to give students practice in reading a poem
Guide pupils to recite and understand the poem.
Distribute worksheet 2B to pupils.
Pupils read the poem and colour the picture.
Encourage pupils to reread a sentence when they do not fully
understand it.
Discuss with the class.
Post-lesson
Aim: to practise memory skills
Students look at SB Activity 1 for 30 seconds and then close
their Student’s Books.
Say sentences about the picture. Students stand up (or stay
standing) if they are true, and they sit (or stay sitting) if they are
false.
Extension (optional)
Aim: to practise spoken production
Volunteer students read their poems to the class.
Alternatively, display the poems around the classroom for
students to mingle and read.
Students choose the poem they like best.
