Subject : Swachhata Pakhwada during 16-30 September, 2018
Sir/Madam,
This has reference to directions from Ministry of Culture to undertake Swachhata
Pakhwada during 16" to 30 September, 2018. As discussed during the video-
conferencing of Director General, ASI made on 10.09.2018 ‘Swachhata Pakhwada’ is to
be observed during 16-30 September, 2018. In this connection following directions and
guidelines are issued

The pakhwada shall be taken up in all the Adarsh monuments essentially, and other
monuments as well
The monument premises shall be cleaned and maintained in all respects, including
the areas not open for the tourists.
All debris, rubble and waste materials kept in the monument premises as well as
lying in cells, underground cells, and various storage spaces shall be removed and
kept neat and tidy.
Horticultural operations shall be planned in all such areas of monument premises
wherever opened and cleaned under the programme.
The access to various parts of the monuments that are under lock and key shall be
opened up and cleaned properly
The areas that have been blocked with untidy manner like putting wooden poles
and scaffolding shall be replaced with suitable and aesthetic materials, including
wooden doors to windows and doors.
Monuments located in rural areas needs proper attention and special drives
planned to make them cleaned.
Exhibitions, public addresses and heritage walks wherever necessary for creating
awareness among the public may also be organized.
Pakhwada may be organized involving NCC and NSS cadets, local public,
students, ASI officials, ete.
A day-to-day programme shall be planned by the respective Circles / Mini-circles
shall be drawn up _—_(monument-wise) and _—_— submitted ~— to
well before 14.09.2018.

SA\Dy.SA as well as officers of Circles and Mini-circles shall visit their monuments
to ensure effective implementation of Swachhata Pakhwada
SAIDy.SA of Circle/Mini-circle shall work on to introduce innovative practice or
solution to address cleanliness, solid-waste disposal, discouraging use of
plastic/graffit, etc., which can be later on set example for others.
At the conclusion of the Swachhata Pakhwada the In-charge of circles/mini-circles
are required to submit the following to the Directorate General, ASI, New Delhi
(i) Report containing detailed account of activities taken under during Swachhata
Pakhwada.
(ji) Related picture album, newspaper clippings, press notes, audio-visual clips.
(iil) Any special document that in-charge of circles/mini-circles may have issued
during the Pakhwada.
(iv) A two minute video clipping of the best Swachchata program.
