1. Instruction for candidates declared Unfit for All Services / some services on the basis of the report of
the first Medical Board:
Candidates may, if they so desire, appeal for a 2nd Medical Examination by an Appellate Medical
Board. For this purpose they are required to :‐
(a) Send appeal within 21 days of the date of issue of this letter failing which it will be
presumed that they accept the findings of the Ist Medical Board.
(b) Enclose a medical fitness certificate by a registered Doctor on his printed letter head
containing the doctor’s (eye specialist in case of eye related finding) name, qualifications,
registration number in the following format, to the effect that they are not suffering from the
defect(s) brought out in the findings of the First Medical Board.

(c) Enclose a bank draft of Rs.100/‐ drawn in favour of “Pay and Accounts Officer, Railway
Board, New Delhi”. Please write your name, Roll No., discipline and rank on reverse of the draft.
(d) For your Appellate Medical Board, you may choose from the Railway Hospitals at
the following places.
2. Instruction for candidates declared Temporarily Unfit:
Candidates may, if they so desire, appeal for a Medical re‐ Examination. For this purpose they
are required to :‐
(a) Communicate in writing w.r.t. steps taken by them to get the defects cured, within 10
days of the date of issue of the letter failing which it will be presumed that they are not
interested in medical Re‐ Examination.
(b) Send request for medical re‐examination within six months from the date of 1st medical
examination enclosing a medical fitness certificate from a registered Doctor on his printed letter
head containing the doctor’s (eye specialist in case of eye related finding) name, qualifications,

registration number in the following format, to the effect that they are not suffering from the
defect(s) brought out in the findings of the First Medical Board.

3. Kindly note that :
i. APPEAL AFTER THE STIPULATED PERIOD WILL NOT BE ENTERTAINED.
ii. The medical examination by the Appellate Medical Board will be at your own cost.
No TA/DA shall be given.
iii. All communications should be addressed to the undersigned by name indicating
your address for correspondence, roll number, discipline, rank, category and
reference number and date of this letter.
iv. Filing of appeal does not enjoin upon the candidate the right for medical
examination by Appellate Medical Board.
4. In case appeal has been sent and no communication is received within 30 days then the candidate should
get in touch with this office (Tele.No.011‐23303277, 011‐23303321) immediately.
