Call to Order – Meeting called to order at 7pm by President Steve Satre. Officers present are Vice
President John Lavelle, Treasurer Harold Hansen and Secretary Ed/Chris Grillot. Pledge of Alle-
giance said and moment of silence for POW/MIA and those still serving in harm’s way across the
globe.
Introductions were given.
Secretary Report – Motion made by Denny Queal, seconded by Tom Torrey to accept minutes as
published in newsletter. Carried
Treasurer Report – Balances given.
Finance Report – Clover sales resulted in $11,487.52. Greg Paulline will work on budget to present
at next meeting.
Members in Distress – Vicky Witt is in the hospital. Dave Thode had a knee replacement.
Correspondence – 1)Jim Henzen would like newsletter mailed to him. 2)Received request from
VVA 299 to sponsor golf hole. Motion made by Greg Paulline, seconded by John Lavelle to sponsor
a golf hole at $100 for VVA 299. Carried. 3)Thank You received Humility of Mary and Davenport
City Cemetary.

Membership – Membership combined total of VVA and AVVA is 229 members.
Honor Guard – The honor guard has participated in 91 events from January – June this year. This is
a combination of funerals and color presentations. For the month of July the honor guard has partici-
pated in ten events. Denny Queal has taken the M1 rifles to the Armory to be cleaned.
National VVA Convention – Recommendation is to notify media of VVA community events. Send
pictures to John Lavelle, he will forward them to the Veteran magazine. Drawing held for brief case
from national convention. Jim Perry is the winner of the brief case.

Honor Flight – Next honor flight is September 12. Denny Richland and Ed Grillot will be on the
honor flight.
Incarcerated Veterans – Ernest Ledyje reported on a program that incarcerated veterans work with
puppies to one year old that will be support dogs.
Veterans Outreach Center – Dave Woods reported the outreach center will be changing the Saturday
lunch will be changed to Wednesday starting in September/October.
Parade honoring veterans and military will be held August 4. The parade will start at Veterans Out-
reach and end at the Mississippi fair grounds. The clysdales will be at the fair.
Next meeting will be at the Bettendorf Library, August 28.
