Chapter 4

PRESENTATION, ANALYSIS AND INTERPRETATION OF DATA

This chapter presents the data collected through interviews and observation. The data

were examined and organise using the appropriate procedure of qualitative research. In order to

know the solution, and to have a recommendation, and interpretations about this study, the

researchers gathered data that will be answered by the respondents.

1. Suicidal Attempts Situation of the Participants.

Student A: Student A said that everything became hard for her/him because he/she was

being down even in her/his own family.


“At home, I don’t usually talk to my family. I got scolded sometimes, and

everything is getting so hard I was stressed and yet they’ll still scold me.”

Student B: Student B said that he/she is triggers at home by overthinking.

“Overthinking.”

Student C: Student C said that he/she is always at their home inside his/her room.

“I always at home that time and I’m always at my room.”

Student D: Student D said that his/her family just sees his/her mistakes and they often

scold him/her.

“They always see my mistakes and I always got scolded for all the mistakes that I

did.”
Student E: Student E said that his/her family is the reason why he/she is committing

suicide.

“I feel like I don’t have a family, I feel like I’m just alone.”

2. What are your situations at home that triggered

Student A: Student A said that it’s because of the teachers who don’t understand the

student who are doing not only one project.


“Rush Project, Rejected works, deadly deadlines, cold hearted teachers,

unappreciated works, fake friends, and classmates.”

Student B: Student B said that one of his/her reason why he/she is committing suicide is

social anxiety.
“Social Anxiety”
Student C: Student C said that it feels as his/her mind is spacing out or out of his/her

mind.
Student D: Student D said that she/he feels the weight of the responsibility that others

give to him/her.
Student E: Student E said he/she feel that everyone is judging him/her every time she is

in public.

3. What are your situations with your peers that triggered to attempt committing suicide?
Student A: Student A said that it is because even if her/him own peers do not respect.
“They don’t respect me sometimes.”
Student B: Student B said that her/his situation in her peers that triggered her/him by

committing suicide is lack of respect in her peers.


Student C: Student C said he/she doesn’t have time to talk some problems to them

because he/she has mood.


Student D: Student D said that his/her family does not understand his/her situation.
Student E: Student E said cutting or hurting his/her self is the best way to relieve his/her

feeling.

4. How does your social media exposure triggered you in your suicide attempts?
Student A: Student A said that the social media pages affects her/him by seeing quotes

that is related to her/his situation.


“By seeing sad quotes that is related on my situations.”
Student B: Student B said that the people beside her is not agreeing in her/him want on

their happiness.
Student C: Student C said that about the post in the social media about suicide he/she

always thinks that the post are related to him/her.


Student D: Student D was having a conversation with his/her friends in social media

about his/her situation and he/she is told that he/she is just overthinking.
Student E: Student E said being suicide attempts could charge everything in your life.

Part II: Reasons of Grade 11 students in the suicide attempts


What are your reasons for your suicide attempts?

Student A: Student A said that the reason is, he/she just want to end all the pain that

she/he feels.
“I couldn’t explain it, but one thing that I wanted to happen is to end the pain that I have

in my heart, I couldn’t bear it anymore.”


Student B: Student B said that she/he want to feel the happiness not pain in her/his body,

and she/he not want more problem in her/him self.


Student C: Student C said that stress, the judgemental people and his/her problems is the

reasons for his/her suicide attempts because it is causing his/her mind experiencing.
Student D: Student D said that the pain can vanished through suicide and will be the

solution so he/she can rest for his/her tiredness for unknown reason.
Student E: Student E said that he/she have many problems have encountered in his/her

life so that he/she couldn’t bear it anymore.

Part III: Ways of students in their suicide attempts


How do you attempt committing suicide?

Student A: Student A said that he/she attempt suicide by cutting pulse and hanging itself

on ceiling.
“cutting my pulse, or hanging myself on the ceiling.”
Student B: Student B said that she/he cutting her/his pulse to attempt suicide.
Student C: Student C said to all of the people that came to his/her by telling them his/her

last word and end his/her life.


Student D: Student D said that he/she don’t have yet any plans.
Student E: Student E said that he/she wanted to cut him/her pulse.

Part IV: Results of the suicide attempts


1. How do your suicide attempts affect your life at home?

Student A: Student A said that she/he became quiet and sad.


“I get always tired, quiet and sad.”
Student B: Student B said that she/he need to be honest and great to our self, think

positive always.
Student C: Student C said was telling that he/she wanted to be alone and feel tired of

everything.
Student D: Student D said that he/she is always alone.
Student E: Student E said that the treatment of his/her parent became different to his/her

and to her siblings.

2. How does your suicide attempts affect your life at school?


Student A: Student A said that she/he became not interested with the things she used to

love before.
“I am not interested with the thing that I love before”
Student B: Student B said that she/he is not always in focus
Student C: Student C said that she/he feels like mentally absent.
Student D: Student D said that he/she could not focus on their lesson.
Student E: Student E said that his/her grades getting low and being down his/her self in

school.

3. How do your suicide attempts affect your life with your peers?

Student A: Student A said that she/he lost interest in talking to her/his peers.
“I am losing my interest in talking to them.”
Student B: Student B said that she/he being affect her him life with peers with hindrance.
Student C: Student C said that he/she doesn’t have time to talk some problems to them

because he/she has mood.


Student D: Student D said that he/she seldom talks and rants to be Alone in a quite place.
Student E: Student E said that she/he thinks that she/he not enough for them.

4. How does your suicide attempt affect your life in social media?
Student A: Student A said that she/he always sharing about sad or suicide quotes.”I

always share sad or suicide quotes.”


Student B: Student B said that she/he always share post about people who ended their

life.
Student C: Student C said about the post in the social media about suicide he/she always

thinks that the post are related to him/her.


Student D: Student D said that he/she is not giving any hint/post in social media. He/she

is ending it.
Student E: Student E said that he/she don’t share post about suicide but he/she read

sometimes sad stories about depression and suicide.
